The Summer Solos Series (Scott Morfee and Darren Lee Cole, producers), a celebration of the best in solo performance and shows by acclaimed playwrights and performers, presents the one-night only performance of The Unbearable Lightness of Being Taylor Negron, the spoken-word fusion of hysterically moving true stories and music, written and performed by the iconoclastic actor and comedian, under the direction of the esteemed David Schweizer, featuring music by Logan Heftel. The performance is set for Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street). Immediately following the performance there will be a brief reception with the artists in the Huron Club, located inside the Soho Playhouse.
In describing the creation of this hilarious evening of frivolity, Negron had this to share: "I started out my career as a Cartoon Model for Hanna-Barbera. I was across the street when both Bobby Kennedy and
John Lennon were shot. I was in Florida, once, and the space shuttle blew up right over my head. I delivered the pizza in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I've seen some astonishing things; there has always been a Forrest Gumpy quality about it all. The Unbearable Lightness of Being Taylor Negron is the culmination of seeing and living those memories; trying to make some sense of it all and find some kind of a connection - a punch line. As a Stand-up, I was always more concerned with the bond I had with the audience when they were quiet and listening than when they were roaring, and with this show staged by my longtime colleague
David Schweizer, I get to indulge, and have my stories be echoed and punctuated by the music of singer/songwriter Logan Heftel."
