The Storm Theatre Company has announced that they will kick off 2015 with a production of the play GIGI by Anita Loos adapted from the novella by Anita Loos. This will mark the first major revival of the show which opened in 1951 and which launched the career of Audrey Hepburn.
Set in Paris at the turn of the 20th Century, legendary storyteller Anita Loos dramatizes Colette's timeless tale of love and marriage...and commerce. Seven years before MGM presented the classic movie musical version of the same story, the play is a romantic comedy of a rich but weary bon vivant and an innocent would-be courtesan.
Under the direction of Peter Dobbins (Artistic Director of The Storm Theatre Company), the cast features Connie Castanzo as Gigi along with Justin Adams, Kate Chamuris, Jamil Chokachi, Cheri Paige Fogleman, Kathleen Huber and Evangelina Kinglsey. Set design is by Brian Dudkiewicz; costume design by Courtney Irizarry; lighting design by Michael Abrams.
Performance schedule is as follows Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm; matinees on Saturdays at 2:00 pm and a special performance on Monday, Jan 12th at 7:30 pm. The Storm Theatre is located at the Church of the Notre Dame, 114th St and Morningside Drive. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased through www.smarttix.com or by calling 212 868-4444. GIGI is produced by The Storm Theatre Company in association with Blackfriars Repertory Theatre.
