RIGHT YOU ARE (IF YOU THINK YOU ARE) by Luigi Pirandello will receive a staged reading adapted and directed by John Martello on Monday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m. at the Cherry Lane Theatre (39 Commerce Street) featuring a first-rate cast.

Featured in the cast are Brian Murray, Lynn Cohen, Reg Rodgers, Laura Esterman, Angela Pietropinto, Zoe Anastassiou, Sam Tsoutouvas and Joel Bernstein, among others.

RIGHT YOU ARE (IF YOU THINK YOU ARE) is set in a Sicilian town in 1917, Mr. Ponza claims that his current wife is his second wife, the first having died in an earthquake that decimated his hometown. Mrs. Frola says that Ponza is mad and that the current Mrs. Ponza is the first wife and didn't die in that earthquake. Which one is mad and who is Mrs. Ponza? In this gripping and comic play, Luigi Pirandello explores the eternal question: "What is the truth?" This new and timely adaptation by John Martello, features a brilliant cast of theatrical luminaries who will keep you guessing right up to the outcome. This performance is a benefit for Pirandello150.

Pirandello150 was created by the brand new Helluva Theater Company to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Luigi Pirandello's birth. The Pirandello150 Festival is a year-long celebration of the lost master. It will include 14 one act plays, five major productions, a film program at the Film Forum, panel discussions and academic seminars which will begin in January 2017. Among its highlights will be a revival of The Living Theater's landmark production of Tonight We Improvise in spring 2017.

Luigi Pirandello was born on June 28th, 1867 in Sicily. His twisty, challenging and always entertaining plays have graced stages in every corner of the world and he won a Nobel Prize but his work hasn't graced a Broadway state in 42 years. The iconic titles are familiar to most of us: Six Characters In Search of An Author, Right You Are (If You Think You Are, Enrico IV, The Rules of the Game, As You Desire Me, and Each in His Own Way but the plays haven't been seen as much as they should be. His work has been acknowledged as a major influence by such accomplished playwrights as Eugene Ionesco, Harold Pinter and Edward Albee. Pirandello150 is one step toward reintroducing Pirandello's genius to the world.
