Soap Star Robert Newman to Join the Cast of PERFECT CRIME, 7/28

Robert Newman, best known for his 28 year run as Joshua Lewis on the longest running program in broadcasting history, Guiding Light, and more recently on the hit Showtime series Homeland, will be joining the cast of Off-Broadway's longest running play, PERFECT CRIME, on July 28, in the role of Inspector Ascher.

Mr. Newman's role on Guiding Light garnered him 2 Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He has recently guest starred on Homeland, Criminal Minds, NCIS and Law and Order:SVU, and will be seen in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2, the Sci-Fi film Dracano, and the short film Deadline.

His most recent theater credits include: Gypsy opposite Tovah Feldshuh at BRT; Deathtrap, Peter Pan, and Man Of La Mancha at the Barn Theater in Michigan; Lt. Frank Cioffi in Curtains at Paper Mill Playhouse and TUTS; She's of a Certain Age at the Beckett in NYC, Annie at NCT; Shenandoah at the Barn; Nine at NSMT; and A Little Night Music and The Full Monty at PCLO. Other stage credits include Quiet on the Set, Picnic, Barefoot in the Park, Romantic Comedy, Sylvia (which he also directed), and The Glass Menagerie.

The Off-Broadway 'whodunit' that New York Magazine calls "a true New York murder mystery" and the New York Times calls "a crackling thriller" recently celebrated a record breaking 11,000 performances- continuing its record as the longest running play in NYC history.

The perfect show for Law & Order and CSI fans, PERFECT CRIME is a funny, romantic thriller about a brilliant psychiatrist and suspected cold-blooded killer, her wealthy husband, deranged patient, and the handsome detective who's falling in love with her.

PERFECT CRIME also features Catherine Russell, who has starred in the show since its first performance and has never taken a sick day or vacation day in the past 28 years. It's a feat that has landed her in the Guinness Book of World Records. Russell's incredible streak has been featured on Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show, Good Morning America and in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Daily News and numerous other media outlets including The Associated Press and People, which dubbed her "The Cal Ripken of Broadway".

The cast of PERFECT CRIME also includes Jack Koenig (Broadway: The Lion King; The Pitmen Painters; Accent on Youth. Off Broadway: Tabletop (Drama Desk Award); Incident at Vichy;) television veteran George McDaniel (All My Children, Hill Street Blues, Little House on the Prairie, Dallas, Cagney & Lacey, Mama's Family, Saved By The Bell, ER, The West Wing); Patrick Robustelli (a well known Broadway restaurant owner making an on-video cameo); Perfect Crime is directed by Jeffrey Hyatt.
