Shortened Attention Span is proud to present The Shortened Attention Span Musical Festival, twelve short musicals covering topics of LOVE, GRIEF, Lizard People, and Singing Rats! Each week of performances features four short musicals. Shortened Attention Span brings together some of the best up and coming writers, composers, and singers in New York. The festival will again be held at The Players Loft in The Players Theatre, 115 Macdougal St, NY, NY 10012. Thursdays-Sundays (Thursday-Saturday @ 8pm, Sundays @ 3pm)

The First Week: March 5th to March 8th features:

Give My Regards to Reading: by Jay Cohen and Danny Gardner
A One Man Cabaret goes hilariously awry.

Pocket Change: Book and Lyrics by Anne Berlin, Music by Andy Cohen
What do all the forgotten coins think about the state of change?

Stew: by Adriel Borshansky and Justin Leider
New Jersey High School Students write and direct this musical about warring food groups and the pot that keep them together.

A Park, A Policeman, and a Pretty Girl: by Jack Moore
Jack Moore tests Charlie Chaplin's theory that all he needs for a comedy is " A Park, A Policeman, and a Pretty Girl" in this tribute to the master.

The Second Week: March 12th to March 15th features:

Coris of Disapproval: by Alan Cancelino, Hector Coris, and Paul L. Johnson
Hector Coris received awards for Best Musical in the 2006 Harvest LGBT International Theatre Festival and won Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Male Performer in the 2005 Fresh Fruit Festival.

Hello, Dears: by John Scoullar and Joe Kavanaugh
Broadway vet Scoullar (King of Hearts) is a seventy year old waitress training you for your first day on the job.

A Strange Serenade: by Mim Granahan
A blind date goes wrong when a woman is followed by a barbershop quartet.

Rats in The City: by Matthew Pepitone and Concetta Rose Rella
Dancing and singing rats light up the stage in this parody of a certain long running musical.

The Third Week: March 19th to March 22nd features:

Reptility: by Scott Voloshin
A sci-fi rock opera showcasing the difficulties of reproduction in the future.

Six O'Clock: by Tom Bruett and David Dabbon
Thorton Wilder meets 50's sitcom.

Acceptance: by Stephen Elkins
Explores the five stages of loss.

The Voices in Your Head: by Anjali Abraham
Presented by Bizarre Noir Theatre Co.

Shortened Attention Span was founded in 2007 by Carlo Rivieccio and Christy Benanti to give up-and-coming writers an opportunity to see their plays produced in a professional and affordable setting. Shortened Attention Span produces three yearly festivals: A One-Act Festival, A Horror Festival, and a themed festival. To date, Shortened Attention Span has produced some ninety short plays in its festivals.
