The Seeing Place Theater, known for intensely intimate ensemble work, announces an Off-Broadway extension for their critically acclaimed production of John Patrick Shanley's Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, a brutal and romantic story of "Beauty and the Beast in the Bronx."

Due to overwhelming audience response and glowing critical praise, this production is getting a limited one-week extension in New York City. The Seeing Place is committed to providing affordable theater for all, and thus this production can be seen for only $15 per ticket.

Erin Cronican (National Tour: Suds, The Rockin' 60s Musical Soap Opera, 1st Revival: Subways Are For Sleeping) stars as Roberta, and Brandon Walker (The Seeing Place's Look Back in Anger and Waiting for Lefty) stars as Danny, in this searing love story. Ariel Francoeur directs, with dialect direction by David Sedgwick.

A man and a woman, both lonely outcasts, meet in a bar - in desperate need of a change. He is violent and possibly homicidal, she is tormented and possibly suicidal; each is transformed by the love of the other. The New York Times suggested the play would be more appropriately titled, "The Beast and the Beast". If so, this is the story of two beasts fighting to accept beauty into their lives.

"One word frees us of all the weight and pain in life. That word is love." - Sophocles

The design team includes Michael Minahan (sets), Preesa Adeline Bullington (costumes), Sara Gosses (lights) and Sean Demers (sound/original music.) Additional fight choreography by Teddy Lytle.

The show has a limited engagement August 21-26, 2012: Tuesday-Saturday at 8pm, and Saturday-Sunday at 2pm. The production is produced by The Seeing Place @ATA's Sargent Theater. Tickets are available by calling SmartTix at (212)868-4444 or online at www.smarttix.com. Tickets are $15. For more information visit http://www.seeingplacetheater.com.
