Next Friday, September 12 marks the start of performances for the new stage drama STALKING THE BOGEYMAN at New World Stages (340 W. 50th St.). The play's official Opening Night is set for Monday, September 29 at 8 p.m. (new curtain time).

Based on the true story of David Holthouse as first told in the Denver Westword newspaper,STALKING THE BOGEYMAN was featured on the popular weekly public radio broadcast "This American Life" in 2011, which prompted an array of media coverage from national and international outlets including ABC News, "20/20," the New York Daily News, the LondonDaily Mail and more.

The Off-Broadway premiere cast is led by Roderick Hill ("The Newsroom," Smart People, Unnatural Acts) as David Holthouse and Erik Heger (End of the Rainbow, Macbeth at The Guthrie) as the Bogeyman, with Murphy Guyer(Glengarry Glen Ross, HBO's Mildred Pierce) as Robert Holthouse, Tony Award nomineeRoxanne Hart (Passion, HBO's "Hung") as Carol Crawford/Dr. Leavitt, Tony Award nominee John Herrera (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, "Person of Interest") as Russ Crawford andKate Levy ("Blue Bloods," Halfway Home) as Nancy Holthouse.

In the spring of 2003, David Holthouse was a successful, award-winning journalist. But no one knew that David had two dark secrets -- first, that 25 years ago he was the victim of a violent rape, and second, that he was quietly planning the ultimate revenge on the man responsible.

A story of transformation, healing and forgiveness of the highest order, STALKING THE BOGEYMAN follows one man's quest for revenge as he comes to grips with the killer inside him.

Adapted and directed by Markus Potter, STALKING THE BOGEYMAN was created from the original true story and subsequent news reports, as well as conversations with Holthouse, lectures he has given around the country and original text by the playwright, with additional writing by Santino Fontana, Shane Zeigler and Shane Stokes.

David Holthouse is an award-winning journalist, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker living in Anchorage, Alaska. His work has been published in national magazines including Rolling Stone, Men's Journal, The Nation and many more.

Markus Potter is the artistic director of NewYorkRep, which is dedicated to developing and producing new work.
