SONG OF SOLOMON's Luis Salgado Wins the Best Director at the 2014 NYC Thespis Festival

Director/Choreographer Luis Salgado won the Best Director award last night (September 5) at the closing ceremony of the 2014 NYC Thespis Festival. Salgado was chosen out of the forty-one other shows that were part of the festival this year for his direction of Song of Solomon.

"It takes a village to create ART. Thank you Valeria Cossu and Heather Hogan for all their incredible work. Thank you to all 23 CAST members, you worked so hard. Thank you to the entire creative team for helping make an epic journey a reality with very little. Thank you to the band & our amazing MD Eugene Gwozdz but beyond it all THANK YOU Andrew Beall and Neil Van Leeuwen for an amazing story, and having trust in my vision. We won TOGETHER" said Luis Salgado after the event was done. The creative/design team of this production included Musical Director Eugene Gwozdz, Lighting Designer Herrick Goldman, Scenic Design Consultant Kate Rance, Costume Design Consultant Harry Nadal, Asst. Director Valeria Cossu and Heather Hogan as Production Supervisor.

Salgado, who recently concluded his run as 'Kid Rizzo' in the Broadway musical Rocky is thrilled to now be back working with In The Heights material next to his good friend and Stephanie Klemons as part of "American Dance Machine for the 21st Century".

The cast of Song of Solomon was lead by Evan McCormack who played King Solomon opposite Ann McCormack who played Almah. The cast included Danicah Waldo, Casey Manning, Levin Valayil, Jonathan D. Morales, Rocio Lopez, Shannen Rae, Alessandra Baldacchino, and Tony Paterniti, with a supporting ensemble of Anthony Logan Cole, Aaron Dalla Villa, Dylan C. Digel, Tim Fitzsimons, Leslie Kyle Hudson, Andrea Nevil, Jennifer O'Neill, Irene Patino, Hannah Rable, Megan Tischhauser, Greg Uliasz, Charlie Willis and Dante Soria.
