Following last year's sold out Coward at Christmas,
Simon Green and
David Shrubsole return to celebrate
Brits Off Broadway. Simon and David bring their cabaret skills to some of the greatest musical writings of the 20th Century, balancing the heartfelt sentiment of
Ivor Novello with the contemporary freshness of Lennon and McCartney, the melodic vigor of
Leslie Bricusse with the lyricism of
Rudyard Kipling and uncovering an inspired piece of collaboration between
J.R.R. Tolkien and the musical magic of
Donald Swann.
Simon Green TRAVELING LIGHT touches and alights on special moments and feelings, spontaneously stirred by the anticipation of arrival, of departure, of simply travelling through life. A treat for those who enjoy cabaret with a British flair!
Among
Simon Green's many London and West End credits are the origin
Al West End productions of three
Stephen Sondheim musicals. He appeared as Young Ben in Follies with
Dolores Gray and
Diana Rigg (Shaftesbury Theatre), Torasso in Passion (Queen's Theatre) and as Jules/
Bob Greenberg in the recent multi award winning Sunday in the Park with George (
Menier Chocolate Factory and Wyndham's Theatre). Simon made his West End debut playing Tony in Sir Cameron Macintosh's 30th anniversary production of The Boyfriend and went onto play Robespierre in The Scarlet Pimpernel (Her Majesty's); Merrythought in The Knight of the Burning Pestle (Young Vic at the Barbican); Lumiere in Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Dominion); Brian in Elegies for Angles, Punks and Racing Queens (Criterion); Titus Lartius in Coriolanus (Young Vic); Alone Together (King's Head). For the
Royal Shakespeare Company he played the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (Stratford and Barbican) and Frank Schultz in Showboat, co-production with
Opera North (London Palladium and national tour).
Together with his musical director and arranger,
David Shrubsole, Simon's cabaret,
Simon Green-Solo, has been seen extensively in London at the Pizza on the Park, The Café Royal, Leighton House, The October Gallery, Riverwalk at The Oxo Tower, Lauder

Al Hall for the Hawthorn Foundation. For the holiday season 2008 Simon and David performed a sold-out run of Coward at Christmas at

At Christmas 2008 Simon and
David Shrubsole devised and compiled Let's Face the Music and Dance – a return to
Irving Berlin for the
