Second Stage Theatre has announced an additional two week extension to the run of its acclaimed production of Sarah Ruhl's eurydice.  Directed by Les Waters, the production had originally extended through Saturday, July 28; due to extremely strong ticket sales, the production will now play through August 12.

"A moving, surreal, and surprisingly funny take on the classic story of Eurydice, Sarah Ruhl's play eurydice re-imagines the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through the eyes of its heroine. When she abruptly dies on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey through the underworld, reunite with her father and struggle to retain the memories of her lost love. With contemporary characters, ingenious twists of plot, and breathtaking visual effects, this stirring new play is truly a fresh look at a timeless love  story as envisioned by one of the American theater's most exciting new voices," state press materials.

The company of eurydice is Maria Dizzia, Gian-Murray Gianino, Carla Harting, Ramiz Monsef, Joseph Parks, Charles Shaw Robinson and Mark Zeisler.  The production has set design by Scott Bradley; costume design by Meg Neville; lighting design by Russell H. Champa; and sound design by Bray Poor.
