Robin Rothstein to Hold Industry Reading of New Play Featuring SIGNIFICANT OTHER'S Sas Goldberg

Robin Rothstein (MAD LIBS LIVE!) teams again with original cast members, including Sas Goldberg (SIGNIFICANT OTHER) for an industry readers of her new comedy, Derek Jeter MAKES THE PLAY on Monday, October 24th in New York City. Julie Kramer directs.

Derek Jeter MAKES THE PLAY is the story of Jackie, a young, feisty dental hygienist who finds herself at a crossroad. It's July 2011 and as her Yankee hero, Derek Jeter approaches his 3,000th hit milestone, Jackie Realizes that her long-term relationship with fellow die-hard Jeter fan, Sal is on the Disabled List. Her commitment to Sal is tested when a charming, new patient appears in her life, offering the dreamy possibility of marriage, home and adventure. Is Jackie and Sal's mutual passion for Derek Jeter the only thing keeping them together? Can Derek help Jackie find her way back to love?

Derek Jeter MAKES THE PLAY received a successful developmental reading at the Cherry Lane Theatre as part of the theater's Tongues reading series in July 2015.

Monday's reading features three of the original cast members, Sas Goldberg, Sasha Eden and Anthony Fazio and welcomes veteran NYC actor, David J. Goldberg.

Robin Rothstein (Writer) is a critically acclaimed playwright and commissioned book writer and lyricist whose work has been produced in New York City, across the U.S. and abroad. She is the book writer and lyricist of MAD LIBS LIVE! (Off-Broadway World Premiere /New World Stages) which begins a National Tour in Fall 2017 and is available for licensing by Rodgers & Hammerstein (R&H). Her writing is featured in "Best of" collections published by Samuel French, Inc., Heinemann, Pioneer Drama Service and Smith & Kraus and is also translated to Chinese and published by Foreign Language Teaching And Research Press. Robin is a member of the Dramatists Guild and Actors' Equity Association and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Julie Kramer (Director) directed her adaptation of Rona Jaffe's, THE BEST OF EVERYTHING, which was named a "Critics Pick" by The New York Times and Time Out New York and was one of the 10 Best Plays of 2012 in The Huffington Post. It's published by Dramatists Play Service. She recently directed OUTSIDE MULLINGAR at The Pioneer Theatre in Salt Lake City. New York directing includes HILLARY: A MODERN GREEK TRAGEDY WITH A (SOMEWHAT) HAPPY ENDING (New Georges), Amy Wilson's, MOTHER LOAD (Off-Broadway and national tour), PEARL'S GONE BLUE (Best Musical FringeNYC), NONE OF THE ABOVE (New Georges). Sas Goldberg is making her Broadway debut this spring in SIGNIFICANT OTHER! Off Broadway credits include Roundabout's production of SIGNIFICANT OTHER, David Adjmi's STUNNING (Lincoln Center), THE BEST OF EVERYTHING. Sas recently recurred on the 2nd season of "Odd Mom Out" (Bravo). Other TV credits include "HAPPYish" (Showtime) and the upcoming "Search Party" (TBS). Sas and her writing partner developed a pilot at NBC through Sony TV. Sas's feature film, ARE YOU JOKING?, which she co-wrote and produced, premiered at the Seattle Film Festival and was distributed by New Wave Entertainment. BFA from the University of Michigan.

Sasha Eden is an actor, producer, and activist. She is the recipient of The Harlequin More Than Words Award for being a "real life heroine" and selected by The UTNE Reader as one of the "25 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World". Currently, Sasha is developing the immersive play, THE THEATRICAL CULINARY PROJECT with co-conceiver and director Marlo Hunter, Chef Carla Hall, and playwrights Jeff Augustin, Elizabeth Irwin, Martyna Majok, Daniel Pearle, and Julian Sheppard.

Anthony Fazio like Sal, is a born and bred New Yorker. He grew up in Hell's Kitchen, and is a graduate of Drama at LaGuardia High School for the performing arts. Over the last 15 years, he has been seen in over 40 national commercials and voice-overs including Dominos, MTV, Adidas, Nike, Nestea, Right Guard, and many, many more. He has appeared as guest starring roles on many hit television shows including "The Blacklist", "Elementary", HBO's Flight of the Conchords", and "Blue Bloods" just to name a few. He is so thrilled to be continuing on this journey playing Sal, alongside this incredible cast and creative team.

David J. Goldberg is a New York based actor and writer and a native of Washington DC. Favorite credits include: BOTH MY GRANDFATHERS (Lincoln Center) WARM ENOUGH FOR SWIMMING (Soho Playhouse); COCKSTRONG (La Mama); RELENT (The Workshop); THE LAST SEDER (The Workshop); THE CAPABLES (Gym at Judson); and THE POOR OF NEW YORK (Connelly Theater). He has also toured the U.S. and Canada with Theatreworks USA and is a member of the St. Fortune Collective and The Workshop Theater Co. His one-man show, TARGET GOLDBERG (HELP! ROGUE GOVERNMENT AGENTS ARE TRYING TO FRAME ME!), will be featured in the 2016 United Solo festival this coming November after critically-acclaimed runs in the Capital Fringe and NYC Fringe festivals this past summer.
