Richard Hoehler's FATHERS AND SONS Plays The Lion Theatre September 15 Through October 4

Joyce Johnson Deep End Productions and little victor production will present a reading of Richard Hoehler's FATHERS AND SONS at the Lion Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) September 15 through October 4, 2009.

A pair of troubled actors portray six pairs of fathers and sons. Scene by scene, they explore the dynamics of male relationships: power, control, responsibility, abandonment - and love. With humor and insight, they delve into their characters kicking and screaming, laughing and crying, loving each other with a vengeance. It's not the letting go that hurts; it's the holding on.

Fathers and Sons, starring Richard Hoehler and Edwin Matos, Jr. and directed by Chris Dolman, is a two-handed tour de force in which truths are laid bare and lives are irrevocably changed.

Based on fact and steeped in fiction, this riveting new play is a funny, raw, bitterly sweet look at six pairs of fathers and sons.

Set in a dumpy rehearsal Hall two out-of-work actors take on this universal theme, kicking and screaming, laughing and crying, loving each other with a vengeance.

Teeming with dark humor the play crosses traditional lines to expose the unorthodox relationship between the actors themselves -- a fatherless son and a deadbeat dad -- who ultimately sacrifice their longstanding friendship in order to save their souls.

The creative team for the production include scenic designer Todd Edward Ivins, costume designer Jonathan Knipscher, lighting designer Michael Abrams, and composer & sound designer Scott O'Brien.
