Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) will present The Witch of Edmonton, adapted and directed by Mr. Berger, for a limited engagement at Theater at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Opening Night will be January 30th.

Red Bull Theater presents the first major Off Broadway production of this fantastical tragicomedy, featuring a witch, a fool, a young man, his two wives, an angry mob, and one very devilish dog. In a new adaptation of the original Jacobean play by Thomas Dekker, John Ford and William Rowley, this rarely-performed classic rips open the dark underbelly of a small town. As the lives of its inhabitants intersect in strange and spellbinding ways, the power of a community for both good and for evil is revealed. Red Bull Theater's upcoming production offers New York theater-goers an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience this fascinating and disturbingly timely tale.

Jesse Berger directs a company that includes Craig Baldwin, Justin Blanchard, Adam W. Green, Christopher Innvar, Carman Lacivita, David Manis, Christopher McCann, Christina Pumariega, Amanda Quaid, Miriam Silverman, Derek Smith, Sam Tsoutsouvas, Raphael Nash Thompson, Everett Quinton, and Charlayne Woodard.

The Witch of Edmonton will have set design by Anka Lupes, costume design by Cait O'Connor, lighting design by Peter West, original music by Daniel Levy, sound design by Elizabeth Rhodes, masks & other special effects by Emily DeCola, Jessica Scott, and Paul Rubin, hair & make-up design by Erin Kennedy Lunsford, choreography by Tracy Bersley and stage violence by Rick Sordelet. Casting was by Stuart Howard.

Red Bull Theater, hailed as "the city's gutsiest classical theater" by Time Out New York, is the not-profit Off-Broadway theater company specializing in plays of heightened language, with a unique focus on the Jacobean plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Red Bull Theater embraces the imagination of theatergoers through intimate, imaginative productions of great classic stories.

Acclaimed as "a troupe that lovers of classic theater should put on the must-watch list," by Charles Isherwood in The New York Times, Red Bull Theater has previously staged productions of Shakespeare's seldom-seen Pericles, a bold new adaptation of The Revenger's Tragedy, a striking revival of Edward the Second, a wild version of Women Beware Women, and a daring revival of The Duchess of Malfi. The New York Times called Pericles "the stuff of dreams,"The Revenger's Tragedy "Dynamite!," Edward the Second "fired with excitement," Women Beware Women "exuberant, vividly acted" and The Duchess of Malfi "boiling drama." All five productions enjoyed extended sold-out Off-Broadway runs.

Red Bull Theater has staged over 50 readings through its popular ongoing OBIE Award-winning Revelation Readings, named by the Village Voice "Best Play Reading Series." Red Bull Theater reaches out to New York City students of all ages through its Direct Address education program, teaching drama and literacy to young people utilizing the plays of Shakespeare. Red Bull Theater produces an annual workshop called In The Raw, dedicated to developing new plays of heightened language and the classics of the future. This year's workshop will be Shakespeare's Margaret, an adaptation of Henry VI andRichard III, directed by Michael Sexton, presented in collaboration with The Shakespeare Society, with public performances in February 2011, details to be announced soon.
