Rattlestick Announces Casting for F*ck!ng Good Plays Festival  Image

RATTLESTICK PLAYWRIGHTS THEATER (Daniella Topol, Artistic Director; Annie Middleton, Managing Director) and ROSALIND PRODUCTIONS INC. (Abigail Rose Solomon, Executive Producer) are proud to announce casting for their annual F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS FESTIVAL, which begins tonight, May 7, 2018 and will run through May 12 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. The F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS FESTIVAL is a long-standing tradition at Rattlestick of doing readings of bold new works from Rattlestick Alumni Writers and from Rattlestick's apprentice company, Middle Voice; as well as welcome new writers to Rattlestick for the first time. On the final day of the F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS FESTIVAL, Rattlestick will present TheaterJam, a daylong event featuring over 20 writers.

Kevin Mambo ("Guiding Light," Fela!), Bjorn DuPaty (Office Hours), Daniel Davila, Doron Mitchell (The Daerie Queen), and Lauren Walker (Firebringer) join the cast of The Eradication written by Rattlestick Alumni Playwright Keith Josef Adkins (The People Before the Park) and directed by Candis Jones (Name Calling) onMonday, May 7 at 7pm.

Morocco Omari ("Empire"), McKinley Belcher III ("Mercy Street"), Erron Crawford (Slave Play), Edison Diaz (The Parlour), and Jeremy O. Harris (Slave Play) join the cast of In the Southern Breeze written by Jiréh Breon Holder (Too Heavy For Your Pocket) and directed by LA Williams (Gone Girl) on Tuesday, May 8 at 7pm.

Kevin R Free (From My Hometown), Michael Genet (Fences), Gregarious Reid, Crystal Dickinson (You Can't Take It With You), Gina Daniels (Buidling the Wall), Ted Deasy (The 39 Steps Nat'l Tour) and Erron Crawford (The Parlour) join the cast of Slingshot written by Kia Corthron (Breath, Boom) and directed by Laurie Woolery (Public Works's As You Like It) on Wednesday, May 9 at 7pm.

Richard Topol (Indecent), Michael Laurence (The Gospel According To... Discord), Alfredo Narciso (Tiny, Beautiful Things), Lydia Gaston (The King and I), andCharlotte Booker (Born Yesterday) join the cast of The Hour of Great Mercy written by Miranda Rose Hall (The Hour of Great Mercy) and directed by Rattlestick Directing Fellow Kevin Hourigan (The Hour of Great Mercy) on Thursday, May 10 at 7pm.

Grace Fjortik, Joshua Leonard (The Blair Witch Project), Leslie Fray (Helen of Troy), and Edison Diaz (The Parlour) join the cast of The Villagers written by Middle Voice Playwright Jaime Jaget and directed by Jenna Worsham (Blue Ridge) on Friday, May 11 at 7pm.

Nathan Lee Graham (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), Nick Lawson (The Perfect Murder), and Hannah Bos (The Open House) join the cast of Sadie River's Drag Ball On The Lawn written by Rattlestick Alumni Playwright Basil Kreimendahl (Sidewinders) and directed by Will Davis (Men on Boats) on Saturday, May 12 at 12 noon.

TheaterJam will feature work by Melissa Annis, Kate Bergstrom, Victor Cervantes Jr, Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas, Cusi Cram, nicHi douglas, Gina Femia, Xavier Galva, Vered Hankin, Kristine Haruna Lee, Maya Macdonald, Winter Miller, Anthony Ritosa, Zoë Rhulen, Ren Sanitago, James Scruggs, Zohar Tirosh, Korde Arrington Tuttle, Daisy Walker, and Dustin Wills on Saturday, May 12 from 3-9pm

The F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS FESTIVAL is generously supported by Peter Emch, and is part of Rattlestick's New Voices/New Works Program, presented in partnership with Rosalind Productions, Inc.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater recently concluded Arthur Laurents's THE ENCLAVE, presented by Middle Voice, Rattlestick's apprentice company, directed by Victor Cervantes Jr. (The Parlour). The 2017/2018 season began with the sold-out run of Tow Playwright-in-Residence Diana Oh's {my lingerie play} 2017: THE CONCERT AND CALL TO ARMS!!!!!!!!! The Final Installation, co-directed by Oh and Orion Stephanie Johnstone. The season continued with acclaimed runs of both the New York premiere of Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith's Until the Flood, directed by Neel Keller, as well as the New York premiere of Mashuq Mushtaq Deen's Draw the Circle, directed by Chay Yew.

The 2017/2018 Season will conclude in June with a workshop production of Cusi Cram's St. Vincent's Project, Novenas for a Lost Hospital directed by Daniella Topol(Ironbound) and starring Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit).

Rattlestick also announced their 2018/2019 Season. In Fall 2018, MacArthur Genius Grant Winner Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale, Bright New Boise, The Few) will team up with long-term collaborator Davis McCallum with the plays Lewiston and Clarkston, to be performed on a double bill for the first time. In Spring 2019, Rattlestick will present the World Premiere of Lockdown by Cori Thomas (When January Feels Like Summer), and directed by Kent Gash (Barbeque), commissioned by Rattlestick with support from The Toulmin Foundation.
