Columbia University School of the Arts presents Ruby Place Nest on the Ground at The Perishing Square Theater, 480 West 42nd Street, New York, is the new home to the festival. New York Theater Workshop 2050 directing fellow, Reginald L. Douglas is at the helm of this commencing production of the annual playwriting festival, New Plays Now 2013. "Ruby Place Nest on the Ground is a poignant, heartfelt play full of beautiful poetics, rich gospel music, and overflowing with love." shares director Reginald L Douglas. "Angelica's gift for language and character has resulted in a play that is at once deeply personal and epic in scope and size."

"By their fruits they will be known." The back yard of 798 Ruby Place is both a fortress and battlefield for the Seed family. Will newfound romance get the best of the beloved matriarch, or will a prophecy left by her late husband be enough to save her little birds from harm? Only the apple tree knows. Ruby Place Nest on the Ground is Part Two of Angelica Chéri's series, The Prophet's Cycle: Abraham's Seed. When asked about the heartbeat of this production playwrightAngelica Chéri relates "This play is a breathing time capsule of my family's history. As always, the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree."

The creative team for Ruby Place Nest on the Ground includesAlexander Woodward (Scenic Design), Jerry Johnson (Costume Design), Dante Olivia Smith (Lighting Design) and Paul Molnar (Fight Direction). Ruby Place Nest on the Ground is produced by Jiles R. King, II in association with Columbia Stages. The cast features Bianca LaVerne Jones, Simone Leanora, Tyrien Obahnjoko, Larry Powell, Willie Teacher and Alex Ubokudom.

Ruby Place Nest on the Ground will perform May 8, May 11 at 2:30pm and May 10 at 8pm atThe Perishing Square Theater (480 West 42nd Street, New York 10036). Seating for Ruby Place Nest on the Ground is free and open to the public. Reservations are required and can be made atnewplays@columbiastages.org.
