Quinton, Cormican & More Lead DEVIL BOYS FROM BEYOND at New World Stages

Producer David J. Foster announced today that Devil Boys from Beyond, by Buddy Thomas and Kenneth Elliott, will have its Off-Broadway premiere at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) on Wednesday, November 3. Directed by Kenneth Elliott (co-founder of Theatre-in-Limbo), the production will officially open on Saturday, November 13. The strictly limited engagement ends Thursday, December 30, 2010. Devil Boys from Beyond premiered at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival, where it received rave reviews as well as the 2009 FringeNYC Overall Excellence Award for Outstanding Play. It was also nominated for the 2010 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding NY Theatre, off-off-Broadway.

Summer of 1957 is a scorcher and something strange is going on in the swamps of Lizard Lick, Florida. With rumors of missing people and giant spaceships running rampant, star NYC reporter Mattie Van Buren races down in search of her next Pulitzer, her booze-hound ex-husband, Gregory Graham in tow, and her arch-enemy, Lucinda Marsh hot on her heels to scoop her story. Flying saucers! Backstabbing bitches! Muscle hunks and men in pumps!

The all-male cast features Everett Quinton, Andy Halliday, Paul Pecorino, Chris Dell'Armo, Peter Cormican, Robert Berliner, Jacques Mitchell and Jeff Riberdy.

The design team includes B.T. Whitehill (scenic design), Gail Baldoni (costume design), Gerard Kelly (wig & hair design), and Vivien Leone (lighting design). Original score and sound design is by Drew Fornarola.

This production marks an unprecedented collaboration between key artists from the seminal downtown theatre companies Theatre-in-Limbo (Kenneth Elliott, Andy Halliday, Vivien Leone, B.T. Whitehill) and the Ridiculous Theatrical Company (Everett Quinton).

In his 5-Star review of the New York International Fringe Festival production, Adam Feldman of Time Out New York said, "Buddy Thomas's deliriously campy sci-fi spoof, one of the most entertaining shows I have ever seen at the Fringe Festival, is naughty, gleeful fun.... If there were any justice in this mixed-up world of ours, the whole show would be tractor-beamed Off Broadway tomorrow."

The weekly production schedule is as follows: Wednesday-Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Please note: there will be no performances on Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving) or Friday, December 24 (Christmas Eve). There will be special, added performances on Sunday, November 28 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, December 26 at 7:30 p.m.; Monday, December 27 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m.

Bios

Buddy Thomas (Playwright) is a widely produced playwright, and is the author of, among others, The Crumple Zone, which was an off-Broadway hit in the 2000-2001 season starring Mario Cantone and directed by Jason Moore. It is published and licensed by Samuel French and has been produced around the world, with major U.S. productions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and foreign productions in Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Buddy is also an agent at International Creative Management, where he represents many internationally known writers, artists, and Estates.
Kenneth Elliott (Director/Co-Author). Credits include revivals of Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band in New York (Lucille Lortel Theatre) and London (Aldwych Theatre). He is best known for co-founding Theatre-in-Limbo with Charles Busch, and directing, producing, and sometimes acting in the original productions of Mr. Busch's Off Broadway comedies such as Psycho Beach Party, Times Square Angel, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset, and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, which played more than two-thousand performances at the venerable Provincetown Playhouse and became the longest running non-musical in the history of Off-Broadway. Other New York credits include the World War II songfest Swingtime Canteen (Blue Angel), James Duff's comedy A Quarrel of Sparrows (Promenade Theatre), Julie Halston's Lifetime of Comedy, the Todd Rundgren/Joe Orton musical Up Against It (Public Theatre), and Zero Positive by Harry Kondoleon (Public Theatre). His work has also been seen at theatres such as Manhattan Theatre Club, The Asolo Theatre Center, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Wilma Theatre, Bay Street Theatre Festival, and The Cleveland Play House. He is on the Fine Arts faculty at Rutgers University in Camden.
Everett Quinton (Florence Wexler) recently directed The Shadow Box and performed as Luzcski in Chekov In Yalta at Cleveland State University - Summer Stages. Before that, Everett appeared as Pastor Van Dam in Cornbury, The Queens Governor; Fabritio in Women Beware Women at Redbull Theater (Callaway Award). Everett was a member of Charles Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company for 21 years and has been happily freelancing all over the place for the last 12 years.
Andy HallIDAY (Dotty Primrose) has created roles in several Off-Broadway productions, Vampire Lesbians Of Sodom, Psycho Beach Party, Red Scare On Sunset and The Lady In Question for which he was awarded the honor of a Hirschfeld caricature. All of these productions were directed by Kenneth Elliott. Andy is currently raising money for a feature film based on his webseries Slightly Dangerous.
Paul Pecorino (Mattie Van Buren) most recently completed a stint terrorizing the town of Huntington, LI as a zombie seeking revenge in an Independent Film entitled The Revenants due out next year. Paul toured Europe on and off for four years in Richard O'Brien's West End Production of The Rocky Horror Show as the infamous Sweet Transvestite himself, Dr. Frank-N-Furter. His popularity and success in recreating this character led him to record a 30th Anniversary Tribute Solo CD entitled Perfectly Frank in collaboration with Mr. O'Brien. His New York credits include: Making Porn, one of Off-Broadway's longest running shows, revivals of both Psycho Beach Party and The Mystery of Irma Vep, and the critically acclaimed, The Crumple Zone, playing alongside Mario Cantone. Singing Sweet Transvestite for the 1,000th time, Paul found himself again in fishnets and heels this time at Joe's Pub in Standing Ovations IV, a benefit concert for Broadway Care's Equity Fights Aids.
Chris Dell'Armo (Lucinda Marsh) starred in The Mystery of Irma Vep at Urban Stages. Other New York credits include Charles Busch's Psycho Beach Party (Mrs. Forrest) at The Chelsea Playhouse; Arms, Legs And Hand Sanitizer (Barry) at American Place Theatre; the original workshop of Buddy Thomas's The Crumple Zone (Terry) and the New York premiere of Party Of One. He has appeared in the National Touring companies of Grease (Kenickie); Guys And Dolls (Benny Southstreet); The Jack Sprat World Tour (Jack) with Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Fiddler on the Roof (Mendel/Motel) starring Theodore Bikel. Internationally, he toured throughout Europe in the European Tour of The Rocky Horror Show (Brad). Regional tours include City Of Angels with Barry Williams, Little Shop Of Horrors (Dentist) with Eddie Mekka, and Yeston/Kopit's Phantom (Inspector Ledeaux). Other regional credits include Fiddler on the Roof (Motel) at Pittsburg Civic Light Opera, starring Lenny Wolpe and Adrienne Barbeau, Sisters Of Swing at Pennsylvania Center Stage (Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye), and A Funny Thing Happened...Forum (Hysterium) at Hilton Head Playhouse.
Peter Cormican (Gilbert Wiatt) most recently appeared in The Emperor Jones as Henry Smithers in the Irish Repertory Theatre's production at the Soho Playhouse. Also at IRT he was featured in The Streets of New York, Prisoner of the Crown, The Yeats Project, The Rivalry, and The Irish: and how they got that way. On Broadway he appeared in Follies with the Roundabout Theatre. In London he appeared with The Royal National Theatre in Lady In The Dark by Kurt Weill and Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre. He also was in the Original Canadian cast of Phantom of the Opera in Toronto, Singapore, Hong Kong and the US National "Music Box" tour company. Other tours included the UK tour of Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story and Closer Than Ever in Canada. He has an extensive Regional credit list including Mame, Rags, Anything Goes, My Fair Lady (Papermill), A Little Night Music (Kennedy Center, DC), Me and My Girl (Goodspeed), and Sweeney Todd (Haymarket Leicester).

Robert Berliner (Gregory Graham) is delighted and privileged to be working with such an amazing group of artists and people. NY: Hamlet (Gorilla Rep), The Mercy Swing (Fringe '07), Off Stage: The East Village Fragments (PWP), Monroe Bound (Fresh Fruit Fest.), Broadway Backwards 3. Jacques Mitchell (Jack Primrose) is a recent graduate of the William Esper 2-year Conservatory Program under Susan Esper. Originally from Dallas, Texas, his past credits include The Muscle Monologues (Producer's Club) and The Full Monty (Little Firehouse Theatre). Jacques can be seen in a recurring role on ABC's "All My Children". His other film/TV credits include Fu Manchu The Amazing Weapon of Evil; Lock Load Love; Diaries of an Agent; "Amazing Sports Stories - The Color of Courage", and ITV's "The Face of Fake Bake".
Jeff Riberdy (Harry Wexler) is native of Killeen, Texas. After moving to New York City in January of 2009 and signing with Wilhelmina Models he quickly segued into acting. Currently studying with Donna Marrazzo and ActingHeartNYC he has had featured roles in Disney's "Step up 3-D," "One Life to Live" and hosted the red carpet events for the launch of RockMeTV/Destination Fame.
BRIAN T. WhiteHILL (Set Design) concocted the sets and graphics last century for virtually all original productions of legendary Theatre-in-Limbo. He designed the world premieres of Die! Mommy! Die!, Shanghai Moon, Julie Halston's Lifetime of Comedy, and The Truth About Ruth. He developed the puppet characters "Pecky and Nooter" for HBO's Oz (and who are now available for work).
Gail Baldoni (Costume Designer). Design credits include My Fair Lady starring Kelsey Grammar at The New York Philharmonic, Wonderful Town at New York City Opera, and an Emmy nomination for NBC's Another World. Film work: Mermaids, starring Cher and The Boy in the Bathtub. The bulk of her resume has been represented regionally by multiple productions for Papermill Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera, North Shore Music Theatre, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, The Boston Ballet, and Westchester Broadway Theatre. Off-Broadway shows include Tall Grass, Home of the Brave, Cinderella, The Subject was Roses, Jolson & Co., A Majority of One, I Can Get It For You Wholesale, Rags, Milk and Honey, The Yiddish Trojan Woman, and Shabbatai. A Chicago native, Gail has been fortunate to design tours in Taiwan, Singapore, Portugal, Columbia and Switzerland. She has recently opened a 30th Anniversary tour of Ain't Misbehavin' starring Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis. Other favorite projects include The Rockettes, Disney on Ice and The Ringling Bros. Circus and Madcap's production of Mystery of Irma Vep.

Vivien Leone (Lighting Designer). Previous work with Ken Elliott includes Vampire Lesbians Of Sodom and all of The Other Theatre-in-Limbo productions. Other credits include Associate Lighting Designer for Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, The Phantom Of The Opera, Fosse, and The Norman Conquests.
Drew Fornarola (Original Score & Sound Design) is a recent graduate of Princeton University and member of the BMI Workshop. Writing credits include College The Musical (NYMF Award for Excellence in Writing, published by Dramatic Publishing Company), The Adventures Of Claudio And Luís (upcoming, commissioned by the New Musical Development Fund), Vote For Me (commissioned by Robyn Goodman) and Thucydides (published by Samuel French).
