Gingold Theatrical Group, which made history last December as the first company ever to present every play (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches) written by George Bernard Shaw - continues its fifth year of PROJECT SHAW with John Bull'S OTHER ISLAND, Shaw's comedy about passion and Potcheen, on Monday, March 22 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.
In John Bull'S OTHER ISLAND, best friends and business partners, Broadbent (Reg Rogers) and Doyle (Marc Vietor), journey back to Doyle's Irish hometown to buy up land to develop. What they don't count on is the power of the locals, particularly Nora Reilly (Charlotte Parry) and the defrocked priest, Keegan (Daniel Jenkins), who talks to grasshoppers. In fact, the entire town is full of extraordinary characters who conspire to turn this business trip into a hysterical life-changing weekend for all concerned, fueled by plenty of Potcheen.
The play's cast will feature Mark Aldrich (RAGTIME), Nora Chester, Ed Dixon, Ian Gould, Daniel Jenkins (LOVE CHILD), Tim Jerome, James Ludwig, Charlotte Parry (EQUIVOCATION), Reg Rogers (ROYAL FAMILY), Alexander Sovronsky, Henry Stram, Dan Truman, and Mark Vietor (PRESENT LAUGHTER). Michael Riedel, New York Post columnist and co-host of "Theater Talk," will host the evening.
Tickets to John Bull'S OTHER ISLAND on Monday, April 19 at 7pm at the Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) are $25. For reservations, call Theatermania at 212-352-3101 or visit www.theatermania.com.
