The McKittrick Hotel (530 West 27th Street), home of Sleep No More, is thrilled to welcome back the iconic, New Orleans-based Preservation Hall Jazz Band who return to The McKittrick's intimate dining and concert space The Heath for five evenings of live music and dancing, tonight, October 27, through October 31, 2015. This marks the return of the famed jazz band following their 2013 eleven-day, sold-out residency at The McKittrick.

Tickets for the concerts range from $65 - $125 and are on sale now at events.mckittrickhotel.com/preshall2015. A specially-crafted menu of seasonal cuisine and cocktails will be available inside the venue at each performance.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Whether performing at Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center, for British Royalty or the King of Thailand, this music embodies a joyful, timeless spirit. Under the auspices of current director, Ben Jaffe, the son of founders Allan and Sandra, Preservation Hall continues with a deep reverence and consciousness of its greatest attributes in the modern day as a venue, band, and record label.

Pres Hall began touring in 1963 and for many years there were several bands successfully touring under the name Preservation Hall. Many of the band's charter members performed with the pioneers who invented jazz in the early twentieth century including Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and Bunk Johnson. Band leaders over the band's history include the brothers Willie and Percy Humphrey, husband and wife Billie and De De Pierce, famed pianist Sweet Emma Barrett, and in the modern day Wendell and John Brunious. These founding artists and dozens of others passed on the lessons of their music to a younger generation who now follow in their footsteps like the current lineup. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Preservation Hall Foundation will host a benefit fundraiser on Thursday, October 29th, 2015 from 7pm to 9pm. The event features a pre-performance cocktail party as well as a ticket to the sold out show at 9pm, with proceeds benefitting the Preservation Hall Foundation's education, outreach, and archival initiatives in 2015 and beyond! Launched in 2011, the Preservation Hall Foundation supports music education, academic research, historical archiving and promotional outreach campaigns to create greater awareness and appreciation for Traditional New Orleans Jazz and the communities that support it. The Foundation's mission is "to protect, preserve, and perpetuate the musical traditions and heritage of New Orleans."
