Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, May 4, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their world premiere production of INDIAN SUMMER, a new play by Gregory S. Moss (Reunion; punkplay; Billy Witch; La Brea; Orange, Hat & Grace; House of Gold). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and directed by Carolyn Cantor (Fly By Night, The Great God Pan, After the Revolution, Essential Self-Defense at PH; Pumpgirl; Orange Flower Water; Stone Cold Dead Serious), the play is the sixth and final production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season.
The LIVEforFIVE lottery for INIDAN SUMMER will be for tickets to the first preview on Friday evening, May 13 at 8PM at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The production has an Opening Night set for Wednesday, June 8 and will play a limited engagement through Sunday, June 26.
A ticketing initiative created in 2007 as part of Playwrights Horizons' Arts Access program, LIVEforFIVE makes a limited number of $5 tickets available for the first preview performance of each Playwrights Horizons production through a lottery via the company's website (www.PHnyc.org).
Details for the LIVEforFIVE lottery are as follows: beginning today, Wednesday, May 4 at 12 Noon, theatergoers can enter the lottery by filling out an entry form at www.PHnyc.org. Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, May 10 at 12 Noon. Winners of the lottery will be notified via email no later than 3PM on Tuesday, May 10 with instructions on how to book their $5 tickets. Unclaimed tickets will be offered via email to a limited standby list starting at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 11 on a first-come, first-served basis. One or two tickets may be purchased by winners for $5 each.
The cast of INDIAN SUMMER features Owen Campbell (Recall, "The Americans," "Boardwalk Empire"), Tony Award nominee and Obie Award winner Jonathan Hadary (Assassins, Gemini, Coming Attractions at PH; Gypsy; Golden Boy; Spamalot; Awake and Sing; As Is), Elise Kibler (The Heidi Chronicles, This Is Our Youth, "Daredevil," "The Affair") and Joe Tippett (Familiar at PH, Airline Highway, Waitress).
Abandoned by his wayward mom, Daniel (Mr. Campbell) is consigned to spend summer with granddad (Mr. Hadary) in a Rhode Island beach town, where the locals don't look kindly on city kids. But his hapless vacation turns around when he meets Izzy (Ms. Kibler): tough-acting, back-sassing, beguiling and taken. Gregory S. Moss's feisty romantic comedy follows a passing fling that could last a lifetime - as impossible and charmed as an indian summer.
The production will feature scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Eric Southern and sound design by Stowe Nelson. Dialect Coach is Stephen Gabis. Fight Director is J. David Brimmer. Production Stage Manager is Kyle Gates.
INDIAN SUMMER was commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and is the result of a Playwrights Horizons / Kate and Seymour Weingarten commission.
The performance schedule for INDIAN SUMMER will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7PM, Thursdays and Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 2:30 PM & 8PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM & 7:30 PM. There's a special Monday evening performance on June 6 at 7PM. Proof of age required. One ticket per person, per purchase. Cash only.
LIVEforFIVE and HOTtix are two of Playwrights Horizons' popular Arts Access initiatives, which allow the institution to reach out to those who may not be able to afford the cost of a full-price theater ticket. This program is supported, in part, by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, McGraw Hill Financial and an Anonymous Individual Donor.
