With continued audience demand, Playwrights Horizons has announced a fourth and final extension for its World Premiere production of CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, the new hit play by Annie Baker. The original engagement opened Tuesday, October 13 to rave reviews and was ultimately extended twice through November 21. Following a hiatus, performances resumed December 15 for a limited engagement through January 17. The production will now extend two additional and finAl Weeks to Sunday, January 31 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The show cannot extend beyond that final date.
CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION has become one of the longest-running shows to play at Playwrights Horizons, and the longest-running production to play at the company in almost 20 years. It surpasses the original, extended runs of such acclaimed Playwrights Horizons hits as Grey Gardens, I Am My Own Wife, The Heidi Chronicles and Driving Miss Daisy.
In addition to its excellent notices and word-of-mouth, the show has since ended up on a bevy of Best of 2009 lists, including The New York Times - Top 10 Shows of 2009, The New Yorker - Best of Off-Broadway 2009, Time Out-New York - Top 10 Shows of 2009 and The New York Post - Best Acting of 2009.
In CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, when four lost New Englanders enrolled in a Shirley, Vermont community center drama class experiment with harmless games, hearts are quietly torn and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won. Annie Baker's new comedy is a beautifully crafted diorama, a petri dish in which we see, with hilarious detail and clarity, the sweet sadness of a motley quintet.
The production features scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Mark Barton and sound design by Leah Gelpe. Production Stage Manager is Alaina Taylor.
CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION has received generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, Tiger Baron Foundation, The Carter Fund and Peter Jay Sharp Foundation.
The performance schedule for CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION will be Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2PM & 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2PM & 7PM.
