Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons has announced initial details for its 2013 special online Auction in connection with its annual Spring Gala. Bidding for the auction, which will feature an eclectic array of items and unique opportunities, begins Friday March 29 at 10AM at www.biddingforgood/playwrightshorizons. Online bidding will continue through Monday, April 15 at 8PM.
Celebrating its 42nd Anniversary Season, Playwrights Horizons is one of New York's most prized theater companies. Proceeds from the Auction benefit the company's six annual productions and programs, the development of new work, access to the arts for all and training the next generation of theater managers and artists. A writer's theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American Playwrights, composers and lyricists, it has presented the work of over 375 writers. It has also been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including 5 Pulitzer Prizes.

A second Playwrights Horizons' auction will take place at the annual Spring Gala, which will be held Monday evening, May 6th at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled "HEROINES", the evening will celebrate the many distinguished Women Writers that have been produced in the company's 42 years. The evening will also celebrate Leslie Marcus on her 20th Anniversary as the company's Managing Director. Cocktails and a Silent Auction will begin at 6PM, followed by dinner at 7:30 PM and the evening's entertainment. Playwrights Horizons' 2012/2013 Season has boasted acclaimed productions of Lisa D'Amour's Detroit, Samuel D. Hunter's The Whale, Amy Herzog's The Great God Pan, the current The Flick by Annie Baker and The Call by Tanya Barfield and the upcoming World Premiere of the new musical Far From Heaven by Richard Greenberg, Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, which will begin previews Wednesday, May 8.
