Chad is tired of his job, his family, his thirty-five-year-old life; Carmine is tired of life on the streets. Chad brings Carmine home, grooms him and trains him-and forgets that stray animals tend to be wild and cunning survivors.

ABOUT MENTOR PROJECT
Mentor Project 2008 was honored with a 2008 Obie Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Development of New Work

Mentor Project, now in its 11th season, engages nationally renowned dramatists in one-on-one mentorships with emerging playwrights for an entire theater season.
Congratulations to Rajiv Joseph (CLT Mentor Project 2005 for Huck and Holden, mentored byTheresa Rebeck ), winner of an N.E.A. grant for Outstanding New American Play
Cherry Lane's Mentor Project was founded in 1998 by Artistic Director Angelina Fiordellisi, playwright Michael Weller and Susann Brinkley, and it is the cornerstone of our development programs. It matches pre-eminent dramatists with aspiring playwrights in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Each Mentor works with a Playwright to perfect a single work during the season-long process, which culminates in a showcase production. To date, Project co-founder and Mentor Michael Weller has enlisted Pulitzer Prize-winners David Auburn, Charles Fuller, Tony Kushner, Marsha Norman, Alfred Uhry, Jules Feiffer and Wendy Wasserstein, as well as Pulitzer nominees A.R. Gurney, David Henry Hwang (Tony, OBIE), Craig Lucas, Theresa Rebeck, and OBIE winners Ed Bullins (three-time winner) and Lynn Nottage, as Mentors. From the outset, Edward Albeehas participated as the Mentor's Mentor by attending Project readings and performances and conducting a yearly Master Class. The Mentor Project has helped one third of its alumni gain both professional and public notice; their works have gone on to flourish on and Off-Broadway, regionally, and around the world.
