Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw, under the leadership of Artistic Director David Staller, continues its 11th Season when it presented its 112th concert presentation with two one-act comedies by Shaw, The Fascinating Foundling and Augustus Does His Bit on Monday, April 25 at 7pm, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street). BroadwayWorld has photos from the event below!
Written in 1909, Shaw's one-act comedy, The Fascinating Foundling brings two determined foundlings together -- whether they like it or not. The Fascinating Foundling featured Malcolm Gets (Horace Brabazon), Ed Dixon, (Mercer), Robert Stanton (Lord Chancellor), and Karen Ziemba (Anastasia Vuilliamy).
Augustus Does His Bit, written in 1916, is a little satirical piece written during WWI, which pits an indomitable woman spy against typical British male bureaucracy. Augustus Does His Bit featured Robert Stanton (Lord Augustus Highcastle), Ed Dixon (Horatio Floyd Beamish), and Karen Ziemba (A Lady).
According to Staller, "These two rarely seen little gems are excellent examples of Shaw at his wickedly comedic best. In both, the women very firmly have the upper hand-and in the most winning way! These one-acts with this cast are the perfect way to launch into Spring the Shaw way."
The post-show talkback was led by theatre critic, David Finkle, of the Huffington Post.
