Last evening, February 18, The Pearl Theatre Company (J.R. Sullivan, Artistic Director) presented a reading of Chekov's The Seagull, adapted by Michael Raver (THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, FIRE ON BABYLON).
In this subtle re-imagining of the story, Chekov's poignant story of artistic struggles, love thwarted, and dreams deferred, unfolds against the backdrop of late 1930s New London, Connecticut.
The reading starred two-time Tony Award Winner,
Judy Kaye (NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT) and was helmed by
Edwin Cahill. Check out a photo of the cast and production team below!
Of the evening, Raver, who also took part in the reading, said, "I am honored and gratified to have been back at The
Pearl Theatre Company for THE SEAGULL. All of the wonderful artists who took part in the development of this play thus far have left an indelible impression on the adaptation. The evening was a profound success."
