Atlantic Theater Company presents the first production of its 30th anniversary season, the New York revival of multiple Obie Award winner Caryl Churchill's landmark play Cloud Nine, directed by Obie Award winner James Macdonald. Check out a first look inside rehearsal below!
Cloud Nine will feature Brooke Bloom (You Got Older), Sean Dugan (Next Fall), Lucy Owen (The Village Bike), Chris Perfetti (Picnic), John Sanders (Peter and the Starcatcher), Izzie Steele (What I Did Last Summer) and Clarke Thorell (Annie).
Cloud Nine will begin previews Wednesday, September 16, officially open Monday, October 5 and play a limited engagement through Sunday, November 1, 2015 Off Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20 Street).
Set in colonial Africa and 1979 London, Cloud Nine is about power, politics, family, Queen Victoria and sex. This timeless and bitingly funny modern classic has not been seen in a major New York production since 1981, when it ran for over two years.
Prolific English playwright Caryl Churchill has been honored with Obie Awards for her plays Top Girls, A Number and Cloud Nine; a Lucille Lortel Award for Owners, and Drama Desk Award nominations for The Skriker and Mad Forest. Her Broadway plays include Top Girls and Serious Money. She reunites with James Macdonald, who staged her acclaimed play Love and Information at the Royal Court Theatre and Off Broadway.
