New Light Theater Project, in association with 5000 Broadway Productions, presents the the world premiere production of A Burial Place by Owen Panettieri at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre. From the award-winning writer of The Timing of a Dayand Vestments of the Gods, A Burial Place marks the third New York stage collaboration between Mr. Panettieri and director Joey Brenneman. The production will run for three weeks, now through November 19th, 2016. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
The cast stars Max King as Colby, Evan Maltby as Emmett, and Deshawn Wyatte as Marcus, three childhood best friends reuniting for one night. With emotionally charged performances, what starts as a seemingly normal annual sleepover between friends, slowly turns into a much deeper mystery in which the three boys are forced to confront their past and each other.
Following a rough sophomore year at college, Emmett, Colby and Marcus were hoping to reunite at home for a fun night of beers and laughs. Instead, they come back to find their town at the epicenter of a major police investigation. A gruesome discovery out in the woods where they used to play has resulted in public outrage and a growing list of unanswered questions. What's been found out there could be connected to an incident involving Marcus from years earlier, but if the boys go in search of the truth now, it may only pull them apart forever. Some secrets, no matter how far you push them down, never find a place to rest.
The production has scenic design by Ashleigh Poteat, lighting design by Ali Hall, sound design byAndy Evan Cohen. Stage Managers are Allyson Namishia and Connor Sully with Props MasterCharlotte Harrison. Produced by Sarah Norris ofNew Light Theater Project, and Luis A. Miranda Jr. of 5000 Broadway Productions, A Burial Place is presented under the Equity Showcase Code.
