John Tartaglia's IMAGINOCEAN, a new family musical adventure, created and written by Emmy and Tony Award nominated actor John Tartaglia, opened at the NEW WORLD STAGES last night, March 31, 2010. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the evening.
John Tartaglia's IMAGINOCEAN follows the undersea adventures of a group of fish friends, who uncover a treasure map that leads them to learn about themselves and ultimately uncover the treasure of each other's friendship. Produced by Jellyfish Jive Productions, John Tartaglia, Philip Katz of Broadway Theatrical and veteran musical theatre performer Michael Shawn Lewis have teamed up to bring this innovative black light musical production to the stage.
John Tartaglia's IMAGINOCEAN takes audiences on a one hour magical underwater journey full of surprises and special effects. The seafaring stars Dorsel, Tank and Bubbles open an enchanted world of aquatic adventures where they meet jiving jellyfish, a strong-willed seahorse and a new friend, lovable Leonard the Octopus.
Veteran director and choreographer, Donna Drake, directs the cast of puppeteers who blend themselves seamlessly into the black light ocean floor, setting the stage afloat. The production features: a lively original score with music and lyrics by composer William Wade, adorable characters that light up the stage with their effervescent color and personalities designed and built by the innovative artists at The Puppet Kitchen in New York City, and brilliantly colored sets that create the framework for this magical undersea journey designed by set designer Robert Kovach.
Performances for John Tartaglia's IMAGINOCEAN are scheduled for Wednesdays at 11am, 2pm & 7pm; Saturdays at 11am, and Sundays at 12pm. Tickets are $39 and can be purchased through TeleCharge (212) 239-6200 or www.telecharge.com and at the box office at New World Stages. Group tickets are available for parties of 12 or more.
