The 35th annual Mississippi Picnic, held yesterday in New York in Central Park, had something for everyone. Alexis Brown (Madison) is a former special assistant and events coordinator at the Mississippi Development Authority and state coordinator for the picnic since 1992; and, she once again had a wonderful event planned out for New York City. Governor Phil Bryant and his wife Deborah were also there to support the event.
The entertainment this year included Country Music Legend Marty Stuart; singer Katie Ladner of Madison, Mississippi who is currently in the show Heathers: The Musical; Jimmie Rodgers tribute artist Britt Gully from Meridian, Mississippi; and New York "pop bluegrass" group The NY City Slickers, which includes husband and wife native Mississippians Faser Hardin from Macon, Mississippi and Annie Chadwick from Jackson, Mississippi. BroadwayWorld was there for the special event- check below for photos!
