Next up on the mainstage at Playwrights Horizons is the new musical BURNT PART BOYS, a co-production between The Vineyard Theatre and Playwrights. Rehearsals began today, March 26, and in celebration, the cast and creative team met the press.
In BURNT PART BOYS, it is rurAl West Virginia, 1962. Fourteen year-old Pete's fighting to claim his past. His older brother Jake's hoping to forge a future. With its soaring, elegiac score and eclectic band of youngsters teetering on the brink of adulthood, this inspirational new musical from an acclaimed new team finds both the streaks of light and the heart of darkness within us all.
Joe Calarco directors the show that features a book by Mariana Elder, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and music by Chris Miller. Vadim Feichtner musical directs. The cast includes: Charlie Brady (Jake), Al Calderon (Pete), Andrew Durand (Chet), Steve French (Roy Tinns), Noah Galvin (Dusty), Michael Park (Dad), Molly Ranson (Frances), Randy Redd (Miner Boggs) and Asa Somers (Miner Taylor).
Also on hand for the meet and greet were Tim Sanford (Playwright's Horizon's Artistic Director), Leslie Marcus (Playwrights Horizon's Managing Director), Douglas Aibel (Vineyard Artistic Director), and Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell (Vineyard Executive Director).
