Page Seventy-Three Productions (Page 73) (Michael Walkup, Producing Artistic Director; Amanda Feldman, Managing Director; Rebecca Yaggy, Director of Development) announced today that the 2019 Spring Benefit will honor long standing Page 73 Board President Amanda Woods. The Spring Benefit will be held on Thursday, April 11 at Angel Orensanz Foundation (172 Norfolk Street).
The evening will feature the Page 73 New Play Bake Off. Artists are given one hour to write a brand new play based on three "ingredients" suggested by benefit attendees, and this year's Bake Off will feature playwrights Emily Feldman, Michael R. Jackson and Leah Nanako Winkler. Directed by Portia Krieger (The Tomb of King Tot) the New Play Bake Off will star Nadine Malouf (Today Is My Birthday, Ultimate Beauty Bible), Larry Owens (upcoming in A Strange Loop), Maria Christina-Oliveras and Blake Russell performing these new scripts.
The celebration will also feature live music by The Lobbyists (Tommy Crawford, Eloise Eonnet, Alex Grubbs, Will Turner, Tony Aidan Vo, and Douglas Waterbury-Tieman), a band and company hybrid actor-musician-composer artists who create non-traditional musicals.
For the past twenty-one years, Page 73 has become the premiere organization for producing New York and world premieres that mark a playwright's professional New York debut. Page 73 has supported, developed, and produced over 125 playwrights whose works have gone on to earn MacArthur Genius grants, Obies, Pulitzers, and critically acclaimed productions nationally and worldwide.
