New York Magazine presents a snapshot of Stew (born Mark Stewart) and Heidi Rodewald's journey from PASSING STRANGE to the upcoming MAKING IT.  In the article, Stephen Rodrick highlights their beginnings in Los Angeles in the 1990's.  They realized they were a good musical team (with one listener calling their sound "Randy Newman meets Sesame Street") and become romantically involved as well. In 2000 Entertainment Weekly branded their album, 'Guest Host' as one of the best of the year (although it does not get sold widely).

They then begin their work on PASSING STRANGE.  It debuted at the Public Theater, and somewhere between then and moving to Broadway, Stew and Heidi broke up.  in New York Magazine, Stephen Rodrick chronicles how they handled the breakup, while still managing to work together.

When recalling the end of PASSING STRANGE's Broadway run, Stew and Heidi felt relief and decided that while they would complete work on a screenplay one day, they agree not to write any more songs about their life, either together or apart, the past, present, or future.

However, after a year, they find themselves back together as a writing team, this time making music about their breakup, and their pre-breakup bad times.  The end result is the upcoming MAKING IT, debuting at St. Ann's Warehouse for six nights only from February 17 through the 22.
