PASSING STRANGE star Stew, composer of the score for Shakespeare on the Sound's summer 2009 offering of A Midsummer Night's Dream, is making two appearances at Lincoln Center in New York this week.
On Tuesday, August 18, Stew will be taking part in "a passionate exploration of the pleasures and pitfalls of artistic partnerships" as part of The Wall Street Journal's Summer Scoops discussion series. The panelists will be Stew and Heidi Rodewald, co-creators of the Broadway hit Passing Strange along with Bill T. Jones, Bjorn Amelan and Janet Wong the artistic leadership team of the legendary Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. The event is at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater at 7:00 p.m. The Journal is offering our audience and supporters a 25% discount on tickets. The reduced price is $18.75 each with discount code WSJ10.
On Wednesday, August 19, Stew and Heidi Rodewald will perform in their new show The Broadway Problem live as part of the Lincoln Center Out Of Doors Festival. In this show they "send Broadway's greatest hits through the experimental dance crazy filter of their twisted, rock-addled minds in an evening of flash, brash, and monstrous mash-ups." The evening will begin with a performance by Tanya Tagaq, a Nunavut throat singer. The show is at the Damrosch Park Bandshell in Lincoln Center starting at 7:00 p.m. The performance is FREE, with no ticket required.
Shakespeare on the Sound produces an annual free outdoor Shakespeare festival in Connecticut, with performances in public parks in Rowayton and Greenwich. By offering our annual theater festival for free and delivering year-round education programs in the schools and local libraries, we open up Shakespeare's great theater classics for a broad audience, reaching a diverse cross-section of people of all ages and economic backgrounds, and creating a forum for learning, appreciation and celebration.
