Original Musical BETWEEN THE SEA AND SKY From Australian Composer Luke Byrne Will Make Off-Broadway Debut At NYMF

Australian playwright and composer Luke Byrneis excited to announce his original new musical Between the Sea and Sky will make its Off-Broadway debut later this summer as part of the 2018 New York Musical Festival's (NYMF) Next Link Project. Featuring an original book, music & lyrics by Mr. Byrne, Between the Sea and Skywill play a 5-performance run at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row beginning July 31, 2018.

When sisters Sam and Emily go on holiday at the beach they stumble upon a tragic chapter of local history - one that has left behind a lingering mystery. As the girls uncover the details of the story, it pulls them into deeper waters. Between the Sea and Sky is an original Australian musical inspired by man's long standing fascination with the ocean - the fear of its power and uncharted depths.

Between the Sea and Sky will star Jenny Rose Baker and Jessica Turk as Sam and Emily, respectively. The pair will be joined on stage by Anna Baker, Jordan Bell, Barbara McCulloh, Thaddeus Kolwicz, Caroline Lellouche, Jason Moody and Sarah Jane Shanks. who appear under the skillful direction of Michael Bello, Assistant Director of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical now on Broadway. Additional casting to be announced.

The production will also feature original choreography by Jim Cooney and music direction byElizabeth Doran, with scenic design by Joshua Warner, costume design by NYMF alumHeather Carey, lighting design by NYMF alum Isabella Byrd, and sound design by John Liebert.

Performances of Between the Sand and Sky will take place at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (located at 410 W 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues) according the the following schedule: Tuesday, July 31 at 8:00pm; Thursday, August 2 at 9:00pm; Friday, August 3 at 5:00pm;Saturday, August 4 at 1:00pm; and Sunday, August 5 at 10:30am. ABOUT THE CREATORS

LUKE BYRNE (Book, Music & Lyrics) is a musical director and performer whose credits includeMuriel's Wedding, Chimerica (Sydney Theatre Company); Hamlet, The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, The Events (Sydney Festival and Belvoir St Theatre); Big Fish (Hayes Theatre). Luke has composed for ensembles including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Gondwana Choirs and Sydney Philharmonia. Luke's music has a preoccupation with the Australian landscape and history. Between the Sea and Sky is his first musical.
