Off-Broadway's WORKING THEATER kicks off 25th Anniversary Season with a star-studded January.

Lisa Ramirez, Rob Bartlett, Heidi Schreck, and Keira Keeley among actors to perform this month

All performances will be in the June Havoc Theatre in the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, 312 West 36th Street, 1st Floor. Advance tickets are available on Smarttix (www.smarttix.com).

Embarking on a season of 25 projects in honor of its 25th Anniversary, Working Theater starts 2010 with a two-night only reprise of Lisa Ramirez's critically acclaimed one-woman show, EXIT CUCKOO (nanny in motherland). Directed by Colman Domingo, Associate Director Raquel Cion. Performances are Sunday, January 10th and Monday, January 11th at 7:00pm.

"A funny, sad and satisfyingly complex one-woman show. The issues are familiar: the nannies are heartbroken over being separated from their own children; the New York mothers, unhappy in their careers or trophy-wife roles, are heartbroken over missing milestones in their children's lives. But Ms. Ramirez brings fresh insight to the picture, smartly revealing the characters' interwoven fates and fortunes and distinctive personalities"
-Anita Gates, New York Times

Next, original cast members reunite for a reading of Rob Ackerman's Drama Desk Award-winning TABLETOP, directed by Connie Grappo and featuring Rob Bartlett, Ty Jones, Jack Koenig, Dean Nolen, Elizabeth Hanly Rice, and Jeremy Webb. This one-night only reading is on Monday, January 18 at 7:00pm.

TABLETOP takes you into the crisis-a-minute world of a TV commercial film studio which provides the product shot, or close-up, of the item the advertisers would like to convince you is absolutely essential to your well-being and survival.

"Tabletop is the best new American play in quite awhile"
-Donald Lyons, New York Post, July 19, 2000

EXIT CUCKOO (nanny in motherland) and TABLETOP are both special benefit performances for Working Theater. Tickets are $25 and include a post performance reception.

Lynn Rosen's new play PROGRESS IN FLYING is the first staged reading in "The Future of Working Theater" reading series, directed by Daniella Topol.

In a defunct steel town on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan, Lois and her mother grapple with a father gone AWOL, the legacy of an aviator who flew in their backyard a hundred years before, and a talent contest that must be won. A play about losers, winners, and those in between.

Featuring Heidi Schreck (Circle Mirror Transformation), Keira Keeley (Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming The Glass Menagerie), and Joel de la Fuente (Law & Order: SVU). Monday, January 25th at 7:00pm; tickets are $10.

Founded in 1985, Working Theater's mission is to produce plays for and about working people. "We believe that theater should not be a privilege or a luxury, but a staple," say Mark Plesent, Producing Director. "We want working people who may not be able to afford commercial theater or who feel that it does not resonate with their lives and experience, to make play-going a regular part of their cultural activities." Over the years, the company has commissioned and produced more than 70 world premieres of culturally diverse new plays; garnered widespread recognition and critical acclaim for writing, acting, directing as well as their pioneering efforts in audience development.
