The producers of Nevermore - The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe announced today that an Original Off-Broadway Cast Album will be released on Broadway Records in June 2015. The CD is available now for pre-order at www.broadwayrecords.com and will be released in stores, through internet-based retailers, and on iTunes on June 16, 2015.
The announcement comes as the show enters its final week of performances at New World Stages in New York, where it began performances on January 14, 2015, opened on January 25, and will conclude its New York engagement on Sunday, March 29, 2015.
The first recording session for the album will take place on Tuesday, March 24 at Avatar Studios and will be live-tweeted by @BwayRecords.
"Nevermore's many passionate fans have been pleading for a recording of its haunting score throughout the show's existence," said producers M. Kilburg Reedy and Jason E. Grossman. "This goes back as far as Nevermore's original premiere production in Canada in 2009 at Catalyst Theatre, and has continued at New World Stages, where audiences constantly ask us if there's a CD."
Broadway Records founder, Van Dean, added "We were captivated by Nevermore's steampunk aesthetic and exhilarating music. We are thrilled that our partnership with the producers of Nevermore will finally give the show's fans the recording they have wanted so badly for so long."
The Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Nevermore will feature the acclaimed performances of cast members Gaelan Beatty, Shannon Blanchet, Beth Graham, Ryan Parker, Garett Ross, Scott Shpeley, and Lindsie VanWinkle. It will be released as a double-album CD containing virtually all of the show's unique opera-like score, which consists of underscored verse and songs ranging from Weimar cabaret tunes to rock power ballads, and blends fact and fiction to tell the fascinating story of Edgar Allan Poe's tormented yet transcendent life.
"Seeing Nevermore is unlike any other theater experience you've ever had, or ever will have," said producers M. Kilburg Reedy and Jason E. Grossman. "So our goal in producing the cast album is to create a cast album unlike any other, similar to a concept album. We get requests for the music from social media followers all over the world, who have never even seen the show, so we are excited that this album will allow them to share in the Nevermore experience."
The Nevermore Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording will be produced by six-time Emmy Award winner and one-time Grammy nominee Michael Croiter (cast albums for Matilda, Big Fish, Heathers), with Radio Mouse Entertainment and Caiola Productions serving as Executive Producers and Broadway Records serving as Distributor.
Since its formation, Broadway Records has quickly become one of the premier record labels in its industry. From offering cast albums for major Broadway shows (i.e. the recent revival of Side Show and the Grammy nominated Broadway cast recording of Matilda The Musical) to preserving shorter run Broadway shows (i.e. Bonnie & Clyde), Broadway Records believes in delivering the best cast recordings to its customers. BroadwayWorld.com recently nominated 19 of Broadway Records' albums for their inaugural 2014 Album Awards. In addition to its emphasis on delivering first rate sound on all recordings, Broadway Records believes strongly in providing a complete cast album experience by packing cast album booklets with a plethora of photos from the show, lyrics and more. The original cast album for Nevermore will feature production photos, notes from the show's author-director, and links to exclusive online content. Visit www.broadwayrecords.com for more information.
