Steele Spring Stage Rights, the theatrical licensing company that represents "The Marvelous Wonderettes," has acquired the performance rights to the acclaimed off-Broadway musical "Himself and Nora," with book, music, and lyrics by Jonathan Brielle. Prior to being acquired by Stage Rights, "Himself and Nora" played off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre.
It is one of the world's great romances. Himself: an internationally acclaimed author whose words awakened the world. Nora: the country girl from Galway whose burning sexuality and acerbic wit ignited the genius of James Joyce. "Himself and Nora" is a passionate musical that reveals the private life of one of modern literature's most controversial figures. Ripped from the pages of their intimate life together and inspired by their Irish roots, this untold story of writer James Joyce and his muse is a scintillating exposé of the unconventional and passionate love affair that changed literature forever.
"Himself and Nora" opened on June 6, 2016 at the Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City. Michael Bush ("Bikeman," "Pyscho Therapy") directed the off-Broadway production with Whitney Bashor ("The Bridges of Madison County") and Matt Bogart ("Jersey Boys," "Miss Saigon") starring as the literary lovers. Kelli Barclay served as choreographer, and Cherie King acted as producer with R. Erin Craig as executive producer. Broadway World deemed "Himself and Nora" as "one of the hottest shows of the season." A live original cast recording featuring the off-Broadway cast was released on September 23, 2016, and is available through Amazon, iTunes, and Stage Rights' online store.
Stage Rights is thrilled to add this exhilarating musical to its ever-expanding catalog. The theatrical publisher is no stranger to popular off-Broadway theatre, with "The Marvelous Wonderettes" currently playing at the Kirk Theatre. Additionally, the off-Broadway hits "Gigantic," "Fabulous! The Queen of Musical Comedies," and the award-winning "Application Pending" have all been acquired by Stage Rights within the past year.
