BILL W. AND DR. BOB - the critically acclaimed play by Samuel Shem and Janet Surrey that Variety calls "deeply human, audience embracing, [and] a remarkable story" - will once again extend its Off-Broadway run at the Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street), now through March 30, 2014, it has been announced by Dr. Shem and Dr. Surrey, and General Manager Darren Lee Cole. BILL W. AND DR. began its run at the Soho Playhouse on July 8, 2013 and officially opened on July 16, 2013; the Off-Broadway play is currently in its sixth month of performances and recently celebrated its 150th performance on December 27, 2013.
BILL W. AND DR. BOB is a universally inspiring story about triumph, determination and camaraderie. BILL W. AND DR. BOB goes beyond the lives of Bill and Bob and their wives, and looks at how communities can come together to heal themselves and find direction and purpose that can help millions.
Directed by Seth Gordon (Associate Artistic Director, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis), the cast of BILL W. AND DR. BOB features Patrick Boll as "Bill Wilson", Steve Brady as Dr. BoB Smith, Denise Cormier, Michael Frederic, Deborah Hedwall, Sarah Nealis, Wilbur Edwin Henry and Blair Sams.
The design team for BILL W. AND DR. BOB is Wilson Chin (Scenic Design), Teresa Snider-Stein (Costume Design), Ann G. Wrightson (Lighting Design), and Kortney Barber (Sound Design).
This production of BILL W. AND DR. BOB, which is presented by The Hazeldon Foundation (a national nonprofit organization founded in 1949 that helps people reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction), is funded by ticket sales and tax-exempt donations (both large and small) to the Hazeldon Foundation. These donations take the place of traditional investors.
Because of these continued donations as well as strong ticket sales, BILL W. AND DR. BOB is not only able to extend its Off-Broadway run through the end of March 2014, it is able to generously give away 25% of its seats (45 seats) at every performance to groups in the recovery community that cannot afford to purchase tickets to the play. The first of these was Phoenix House, Brooklyn and Bronx Community Recovery Center. To find out more information about this free ticket opportunity for your center or group, please email Info@billwanddrbob.com or visit www.billwanddrbob.com/free-tickets/.
