Beginning this Thursday, November 10, the John Cullum Theatre will host the world premiere of Orphans & Outsiders, a new play that speaks to America's divisive political climate. The play is written and directed by Andrew Garrett in collaboration with Jackie Rivera and is presented as the final show of the 2016 Araca Project.

Orphans & Outsiders tells the story of seven siblings who flee their isolated home into the chaos of post-apocalyptic America. When tracked down by outsiders whose oppressive beliefs threaten their way of life, the family must stand together or allow opposing beliefs to tear them apart. Particularly relevant this fall as the nation elects its next president, Orphans & Outsiders seeks to understand where our prejudices come from and how they impact the way we interact with the world.

The production will showcase the work of a diverse group of more than 30 emerging theatre artists. The cast features Dolores Avery, Jay DeYonker, Kelly Fairbrother, Manini Gupta, Connor Johnston, Erica Lance, Andres Robledo, Andre Smith, and Russell Sperberg. The show is designed by: Michael Minahan (scenic), Amy Elliott (lighting), Kathryn Bailey (costumes), and Keenan Hurley (sound).

Orphans & Outsiders runs now through November 19; Tuesday - Thursday 7pm, Friday and Saturday 8pm, Sunday at 6pm. Running time is 90 minutes with no intermission. All performances are held in the John Cullum Theatre at the American Theatre of Actors (314 W 54th St). General Admission tickets are $20 and VIP Reserved Seats are $30. Tickets are on sale at www.orphansandoutsiders.com.
