Two Tony® Award Winning Companies - The Guthrie Theater of Minneapolis and New York's Acting Company - bring a stunning new production of Shakespeare's Henry V to The New Victory Theater from February 27 through March 8. With 12 actors playing more than 55 roles, director Davis McCallum has injected fresh, fast-paced energy and sharp humor into this bold and beloved Shakespearean epic.
This bold saga follows a charismatic warrior King and his ragtag band of men through the brutality of warfare as they confront heavy opposition and face their own destinies in an aggressive pursuit for the French crown. Young, restless and ambitious, Henry V (Matthew Amendt) inherits a troubled monarchy and seeks to secure his position at home by turning the country's attention abroad, uniting England and France while briefly banishing the civil strife that will long outlive him. Expertly balancing the thrilling heroics of battle with the complex reactions of soldiers struggling to make sense of their crusade, Shakespeare's Henry V is a rousing and fascinating story about the power of courage and the price of glory.
In addition to Amendt, the ensemble cast of Henry V will feature the talents of Freddy Arsenault, Georgia Cohen, Kelley Curran, Rick Ford, Andy Grotelueschen, Carie Kawa, Robert Michael McClure, William Sturdivant, Samuel Taylor, Chris Thorn and Sonny Valicenti.
The Henry V artistic team also includes Neil Patel (Set Design), Anita Yavich (Costume Design), Victor Zupanc (Music), Michael Chybowski (Lighting Design), Scott W. Edwards (Sound Design), Erin Kennedy Lunsford (Wig and Makeup Design), John Sipes (Fight Direction), Andrew Wade (Voice and Text Consultant), Sara Phillips (Voice and Text Consultant), Joel Howell (Production Manager), Ian Belknap (Staff Repertory Director), Karen Parlato (Production Stage Manager) and Nick Tochelli (Assistant Stage Manager).
