New Victory Announces 2008-09 Season

The 2008-09 New Victory Season will feature premieres of Rewind, Cirque Mechanics, Tom Tom Club, La Famiglia Dimitri and the Guthrie production of Henry V.

The New York premiere of Knucklehead Zoo's Rewind, a celebration of break-dance and hip-hop, runs Oct. 3-19. Chicago's Redmoon Theater will present the comic stage adaptation of the classic Victor Hugo work Hunchback, running Oct. 24-Nov. 9.

Las Vegas' Cirque Mechanics will make its New York debut Nov. 14-Dec. 14 and will transform the New Victory into a Birdhouse Factory for the holidays. An additional holiday offering will be Holiday House Party with Dan Zanes and Friends. Grammy winner Zanes performs Dec. 19, 2008,-Jan. 4, 2009.

Cranked, presented by Vancouver's Green Thumb Theatre, looks at dreams lost due to one man's addiction to crystal meth. The award-winning hip-hop flaired production runs Jan. 9-25, 2009. Scotland's Visible Fictions will offer Jason and the Argonauts Jan. 23-Feb. 1, 2009. Morocco's Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger stages Taoub, an exotic fantasia on of North African culture, Feb. 6-22, 2009.

Davis McCallum will direct the New York premiere of the Guthrie Theater's Henry V. A co-production with The Acting Company, the tale of politics and war runs Feb. 27-March 8, 2009. The musical world of Black Violin will follow, playing March 13-22, 2009.

The Swiss circus troupe La Famiglia Dimitri makes its U.S. debut March 27-April 19, 2009. Madrid's Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca return to the New York stage April 24-May 3, 2009.

The Queen of Colors, the puppet stage work created by Germany's Erfreuliches Theater Erfurt, will run May 1-17, 2009, while Japan's comedy duo Gamarjabot make their U.S. debut with Rock 'n Roll Penguin, running May 8-24.

The final offering of the season will be the U.S. premiere of Australia's Daredevil Theater presentation of Tom Tom Club. The acrobatic work set to beat-boxing rhythms will run May 29-June 14, 2009.
