Jeremy Terry presents The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, a new play by Brendan Jones. Directed by Taryn Verley and featuring an original score by Aaron Latina, the story is based on the book by E.T.A. Hoffman
and The Nutcracker Ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

The first script reading will be held at Walkerspace Theatre (46 Walker Street New York, NY) on August 8, 2015 at 6:00pm.

"Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year," producer Jeremy Terry said in a statement. "Anyone who knows me would guess that I would have jumped at the chance to produce a show that is so deeply rooted in the magic of Christmastime, but I was hesitant at first! Could any play really capture the classic beauty of the Nutcracker that we have come to recognize so well through ballet? The beautiful dances, the transcendent music, the elaborate stagings... I didn't think it could be done."

"The more Taryn described her concept to me however, I became hooked. Not only had she done her research into the roots of this story, but she began to create a vision for a truly incredible staging that I knew needed to be seen. That's when we brought Brendan on board, and his words began to shape some incredible characters. Beyond just Marie, the Nutcracker, and the Mouse King that you know, you'll begin to see stories of love, loss, friendship, betrayal -- but throughout it all the magic of Christmas."

"Working with Brendan and Taryn on this project has been an absolute joy, and they've truly brought this classic story to life in a new way," Terry added. "I'm so excited that we've reached this stage of production and are able to share our story with you, and I'm looking forward to what's next."

Director Taryn Verley said, "Seeing this story grow from the seed of an idea into something remarkable in our show has been something I would have thought improbable, and yet here we are preparing to hear it read for the very first time. This show has been a dream of mine for several years now, and I can't wait to share it with you at our upcoming reading. I know you'll grow to love the story and characters as much as I have."
