Naked Angels' previously announced world premiere of the new play A Long and Happy Life by Bekah Brunstetter has been postponed to the 2012 Season. A Long and Happy Life was to be directed by Naked Angels founding company member Pippin Parker and produced at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. Performances for the limited run through July 24 were scheduled to begin June 14 towards a June 23 opening.

"When a major funding source fell through several weeks ago, we were unable to replace it in time to produce the show as scheduled," says incoming Artistic Director Andy Donald. "Despite our absolute confidence in the play, it became clear that postponing was the most responsible decision for the company and to ensure A Long and Happy Life gets the production it deserves. We remain committed to producing the world premiere of Bekah's moving and timely new play, which we commissioned and developed for the past two years."

Naked Angels' world premiere production of Zayd Dohrn's Outside People will go forward in Fall 2011 as previously announced.

Naked Angels' American premiere of Chloe Moss' This Wide Night starring Edie Falco and Alison Pill played a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run Off-Broadway last summer and has been nominated for five 2011 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Director (Anne Kauffman), Outstanding Lead Actress (Edie Falco), Outstanding Scenic Design (Rachel Hauck), Outstanding Costume Design (Emily Rebholz), and Outstanding Lighting Design (Matt Frey). This Wide Night tied for the most nominations.

SINCE 1986, Naked Angels has been committed to strengthening a community of artists through the development and production of provocative new work. The company has played a role in developing critically acclaimed new plays including The Substance of Fire, Side Man, Tape, Fault Lines and most recently the Tony Award-nominated Next Fall. From New York to LA, they inspire artists to generate fresh voices to generate new work through their popular Tuesdays@9 (cold readings of plays, screenplays, stories and music in early development), 1st Mondays (public readings of new plays), and Angels in Progress (weeklong workshops). Their newest venture, Naked Radio, brings the work of talented new writers from the stage to the digital airwaves through weekly blogs and podcasts.

As previously announced, Andy Donald, current Associate Artistic Director of Naked Angels, will assume the role of Artistic Director of the company in July 2011, succeeding current Artistic Director Geoffrey Nauffts. Nauffts, a Tony-nominated Naked Angels company member, will retain his status as a company member, take a new role on the Naked Angels Board, and continue to work with the company as a playwright and director.

Naked Angels is led by Geoffrey Nauffts (Artistic Director), John E. Alexander (Managing Director) and Andy Donald (Associate Artistic Director).
