THE EVENTS is the third production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2014/15 Season. Written by acclaimed Scottish playwright David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Musical) and directed by Ramin Gray (The Royal Opera's The Importance of Being Ernest), THE EVENTS begins previews tonight, February 4, 2015 and officially opens on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003). THE EVENTS comes to New York for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, March 22, 2015.
Award-winning Scottish playwright David Greig's THE EVENTS follows a community's search for compassion, peace and understanding in the wake of unthinkable violence. Delving into faith, politics and reason, Ramin Gray's internationally acclaimed and theatrically inventive production features a soaring soundscape and a different community choir at each performance, drawn from diverse communities throughout the tri-state area. The hit of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it garnered five-star reviews, along with a Fringe First and the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award, the Actors Touring Company production of THE EVENTS has gone on to international acclaim and comes to New York for a strictly limited engagement in February and March 2015.
THE EVENTS will feature Neve McIntosh ("Doctor Who") and Clifford Samuel (The Wooster Group/RSC's Troilus and Cressida), both reprising their roles from the 2013 London production and touring production, respectively. THE EVENTS features music by John Browne, design by Chloe Lamford, lighting design by Charles Balfour, sound design by Alex Caplen, music direction by Magnus Gilljam and music supervision by David Dabbon. Actors Touring Company creates international contemporary theatre and artists at the cutting edge of their practice, to seek new perspectives and engage audiences in unusual ways.
