NICE JEWISH GIRLS GONE BAD is a refreshing mix of comedy, music, spoken-word, and show-stopping burlesque, featuring the gals who learned to smoke at Hebrew School, got drunk at their Bat-Mitzvahs and would rather have more schtuppa than the chupah. The show features performers seen on Comedy Central, HBO, Late Night TV, and more. The girls are bringing the party to NEW YORK CITY from DECEMBER 1ST through JANUARY 2ND at the 45 BLEECKER STREET THEATER with tickets available on TELECHARGE.COM or by phone at 212-239-6200. These badass chosen chicks boldly dare to deconstruct years of tradition, expectations, and guilt in a fast-paced vaudeville extravaganza. It's ain't yo' mama's Fiddler!
After cruising the US for 7 years, last year Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad opened at The Zipper Theater in NYC with a brand new show which received rave reviews. The New York Post gave the show 3 stars calling it "good kosher fun" and "very funny," while TimeOut NY called it a "fun night of laugh-out-loud comedy, music and striptease." Backstage described the riotous spectacle as "a spontaneous party" and the Village Voice said it was "super fun." Anyone with a sense of humor - Jews and non-Jews alike - will roll in their seats while the comedic chanteuses perform songs including "Eat my Hamantashen" and "Get Out!" a song performed by the side-splitting comedic duo, Mel and El, who prefer that men exit the premises immediately after some guiltless schtupp-ing. Later Mel and El also explain why it is that Jewish girls attract gay best friends -a purely biological reason of course - and Shayna Ferm proves in "The Baby Song" that not every woman dreams of having babies. While Ophira Eisenberg (Comedy Central) jokes about being the token mistake of her large Jewish family and Rena Zager (Comedy Central) admits to being a sharp tongued Acidic - not Hasidic - Jew, the audience is brought to tears of laughter. To sum this crazy variety show up, these comediennes boldly state what everyone else in the world is silently thinking.
The show is hosted by the hilariously talented and self-proclaimed "queen of the quick change", The Goddess Perlman, from NBC's Last Comic Standing. The cast features a rotation of comediennes including Ophira Eisenberg (Comedy Central), Mindy Raf (VH-1), Rachel Feinstein (Comedy Central), Jessica Kirson (Comedy Central,Last Comic Standing, Late Night TV), Poppi Kramer (Biggest Loser), Mel & El, Shayna Firm (Moonwork), Shawn Pelofsky (Chelsea Lately, Comics Unleashed), Rena Zager (Comedy Central), Jess Wood (Def Comedy Jam), Hillary Schwartz (Sirius), spoken word artist Vanessa Hidary (HBO) and high jinx and kicks provided by gifted dancers Sister Schmaltz.
Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad has been spreading their own brand of nuevo schmaltz across the land to sold-out crowds in NYC, DC, Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, Denver, Santa Fe, Vancouver, Providence, Miami, Portland, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Tucson, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, and much more! Audiences simply cannot get enough of these wayward girls!
