Hope Speaks, the ?rst New York City based collaborative multimedia piece chronicling the historic election of President Barack Obama using excerpts from 32 personal accounts from community leaders such as Dean Mary Schmidt Campbell, Sandra Bowie, Legendary Actors André DeShields and Tina Shephard, Scholars Bob Vorlicky and Awam Amkpa and Reverend LaKeesha Walrond, premieres January 22 & 23 as a part of the Ladder Series presented by The Movement Theatre Company.

Hope Speaks uses surveying techniques inspired by Anna Devere Smith. Creator and director Jonathan McCrory leads an ensemble of actors (Chanel Carroll, Cherrye Davis, Eric Lockley, Kisa Willis, Kimberly Young) to showcase the collective stories from November 4, 2008, through song, dance and narrative.

Established in 2007, The Movement Theatre Company [TMTC] is a not-for-pro?t ?scally sponsored project under Fractured Atlas, a group of young leaders seeking to create and support diverse representations of people of color in the media and arts. The Ladder Series is designed to focus on the collaborative effort behind the creation of new work providing the space and forum for theatre to emerge out of dialogue.

'Hope Speaks' will be performed on Friday, January 22 @ 8:00PM; Saturday, January 23 @ 2:00PM (Talk Back) & 8:00PM, at the Harlem School of the Arts, located at 645 Saint Nicholas Avenue, Manhattan
