SANCTUARY, a home for feminist/queer/minority theatre, will take up residence at HERE beginning on Inauguration Day, January 20th as part of the Sublet Series.

SANCTUARY is a pop-up venue at HERE which will feature performances by traditionally marginalized voices in response to their fears and anxieties about the incoming administration. SANCTUARY endeavors to create an eclectic atmosphere that draws upon the rich visual legacy of Activist and Counter-Culture spaces.

SANCTUARY opens on January 20th with an Inaugural Ball and continues with a full month of work by more than 50 different artists from a wide range of backgrounds. The schedule includes new theatre works; panel discussions with major arts leaders; trainings on community organizing, civil disobedience, and privacy rights; and a variety of dance, concert, and other non-traditional works.

SANCTUARY's Inaugural Ball will be a night to come together and find comfort on one of America's darkest nights, celebrating New York City's identity as a home for artists and creators, misfits and queers, admirers of all things inclusive, loving and human. Performers for the Inaugural Ball will include: Molly Pope (hailed as "one of downtown cabaret's most adventurous performers" by the New York Times), Alison Fraser (Broadways The Secret Garden, Romance/Romance, First Daughter Suite), Ikechukwu Ufomadu (Ike at Night at Under the Radar/The Public Theater), Drew Brody (Cutman: A Boxing Musical), Tova Katz (Another Name in Nightlife at Joe's Pub), Joel Kim Booster ("Conan", "Billy on the Street"), Maybe Burke ({Your Name Here} A Queer Theatre, Trans Literacy Project) and vocal trio Siren.

SANCTUARY is presented and created by Adam Salberg and Jonathan Cottle (Queensmark Projects) in association with Less Than Rent Theatre. The presented works were selected by Azure D Osborne-Lee, Debra Morris, Jenna Grossano (LTR), and Adam Salberg. The venue is designed by Jonathan Cottle. This production is a part of the Sublet Series@HERE, HERE's curated rental program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment, as well as technical support.

Tickets for the SANCTUARY Inaugural Ball are $35, available for purchase online at here.org or 212-352-3101. Performance time is 8:30pm. HERE is located at 145 Sixth Avenue, enter on Dominick one block South of Spring Street.
