Miss White House, the new Off-Broadway, one-woman show about a candidate trying to fulfill her dreams of becoming the President of the United States, will begin previews at the 45th Street Theatre on Friday, November 16, 2007. The official opening will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. The production features actress Kaitlin Stillwell.
"On the eve of the Presidential election, Miss White House must meet the challenges of society and her imagination to succeed. Surprise and enchantment follow as you are whisked from the election headquarters champagne reception into the private dressing room of Miss White House and join her on an extraordinary journey through time and her fantasies. With unexpected guests, East Asian yoga, a stint of celebrity jail time, and an attack on her home by congress, Miss White House romps through her past, present and future in this magical journey. She reminisces about the beauty contest of her past, her relationship with her high-school sweetheart, and the football team…that they were on together," explain press notes.
Miss White House features Kaitlin Stillwell, who most recently appeared in Maccabeat! at the Acorn Theatre (NYMF). Other NY credits include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet: the Musical directed by Terrence Mann (NAMT), and a finalist in the National Shakespeare Competition at Lincoln Center. Her regional credits include Louise in The Underpants, June in Smoke on the Mountain, Lady Thiang in The King and I (Mountain Playhouse); Smeraldina in The Servant of Two Masters (Kitchen Theatre), Mercy Lewis in The Crucible (Hangar Theatre), and the national tour of Junie B. Jones.

Performances of Miss White House are Tuesday - Saturday at 8PM Sunday at 7PM. Matinees are Saturday at 2PM and Sunday at 3PM. There is no performance on Thursday, November 22, Thanksgiving Day.

Playwright Ira Shapiro has produced and created theatre for over a decade. He produced Summer69, The Musical in New York City which ran at the Fairbanks 42nd Street Theater. He also created and produced Jule Styne's Broadway, the concert for orchestras that starred Howard McGillan and Judy Kuhn. His mentors include Jule Styne who introduced him to creating Broadway Shows, The Theatre Guild and Philip Langner who showed him how to produce Broadway shows, and all the wonderful people he watched create the magic of words and music in theater, Marsha Norman, Bob Merril, Stanley Donnen, Michael Feinstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green.
