Sanders, Valentino Sella, Greg Sullivan, Sam Tsoutsouvas and Paxton Whitehead. The reading will be directed by Wendy C. Goldberg.
America's great dramatist explores the human and divine in a beautiful re-imagining of the classic Greek myth. Thornton Wilder retells the legend of Alcestis, who gave her life to save her husband Admetus, King of Thessaly, who was beloved of the Sun God Apollo and brought back from Hell by Hercules. Wilder's Alcestis is a strikingly vibrant seeker of truth, for whom "there is only one misery, and that is ignorance." Her journey from bewildered bride, through the trials of marriage, into old age, is a comical and wildly romantic story of gods and men, of death and resurrection, and of usurpation and revenge.
