The McKittrick Hotel (530 West 27th Street, NYC), home of Sleep No More, will re-open its popular year-round rooftop hideawayGallow Green with the annual "Herb Festival" on Friday, April 20. Weekend brunch service will begin on Saturday, April 28.
This past winter, New York City's most transportive rooftop getaway was home to The Lodge at Gallow Green, a cozy mountainside lodge nestled atop the hotel in a secluded forest of pine trees. Now, the whimsical, overgrown secret garden is set to return for the warmer months.
Gallow Green specializes in handcrafted cocktails, signature large format punches and seasonal cuisine for dinner, plus a brunch buffet featuring live music on weekends. The menu is prepared by the hotel's Executive Chef Pascal Le Seac'h.
· Elevated small plates and salads range from Steak Tartare, Tuna Crudo, Kale Caesar and Bulgur Wheat Green Salad, to tender Calamari and Fried Cheese Curds with green tomato compote. Sharable plates include a Crudité Bowl that is almost too gorgeous to eat, a Cheese Plate and Charcuterie & Salumi, which can also be combined for a selection of both.
· Pizzas, made fresh to order in the rooftop's wood burning oven, include Vegetable, Meatball, Prosciutto and Cherrystone Clams, as well as Classic, Pepperoni and Margherita. Lobster Rolls, Grilled Octopus with Romesco, Swordfish with saffron aioli, Steak Skewers and a Sandwich Cubano round out theMains.
· Brunch features live music by MK Groove and a well-appointed buffet spread, complete with assorted Pastries & Sweets like croissants, mini cinnamon buns savory breads and candy, as well as Greek Yogurt with Granola and Fresh Fruit; a cold buffet featuring Shrimp, Quinoa, Beet and Tomato & Mozzarella Salads; hot buffet items like Fried Chicken, Moussaka; an Omelette Station; and Carving Station featuring whole baked Salmon and crispySuckling Pig. Coffee and tea are included, while Bloody Marys and other brunch cocktails are available to enhance the meal.
· Seasonal cocktails include the house signature Sleep No More made with Absolut Elyx vodka, elderflower, pea flower and rosé cider; White Widow, a blend of Hornitos tequila, maté soda and almond liqueur with refreshing grapefruit and Kaffir lime; Honey Pot, Hendrick's gin, cucumber, honeydew, honey and soda; and Spice Monkey, Toki Japanese whisky, chartreuse and a powerful punch of spices including allspice, curry leaf and chili. Extra fizzy and effervescent Suntory Whisky Toki Highballs are prepared using a special contraption that perfectly chills and dispenses the whisky and soda at the bar.
· Wine selections by the glass or bottle include Rosés from France and Spain, Proud Pour "Oyster" Sauvignon Blanc and Wolffër Estate Rosé Dry Ciderby the can. Summery draft beers highlight local breweries like Long Island's Montauk Driftwood Pale Ale, Brooklyn's Braven Skyliner IPA and The Bronx'sGun Hill Cherry Tree Ale.
Outfitted as a Scottish train station hidden amidst lush greenery, Gallow Green is a perfect stop before or after attending a performance at The McKittrick, which is located in close proximity to The High Line, Chelsea, Hudson Yards, Hell's Kitchen and the Meatpacking District.
