Amidst our current national conversations pertaining to privilege, systemic racism, anger and fear, LET The Devil TAKE THE HINDMOST will premiere at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) August 12- August 23th as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

Set in Washington D.C. 1969, the production eerily echoes our current U.S. cultural and political climate. The production delves deep into stereotypes about the "angry black woman" and how anger is evaluated through the lens of privilege, devaluing individuals' purpose of anger.

Playwright Maya Contreras' love of the arts has given her a substantial background in writing and production. She's conducted interviews with the iconic fashion designer Calvin Klein, comedy television stars Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson ('Broad City'), The Cast of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Comedian Bill Burr and Television Producer and Comedy Writer Stephen Merchant ('The Office', 'Extras', UK) and many more. Her plays' 'The Bloodline of Shadrick Grace' and 'On The Use and Disadvantages of Leaving' were both Official FringeNYC Selections consecutively in 2014 and 2015. Her short film Final Portrait wrapped production in London in Winter 2016.

The cast of LET The Devil TAKE THE HINDMOST features Thursday Farrar*, Felipe Gorostiza*, Analisa Velez, KAITLIN LARGE, Nichole Thompson-Adams And Bobby Crace.
